Really enjoying it as well. Got my first win in a squad game last night.

I've got it, I'm really not very good. I think I need to be more aggressive at the start. At present I tend to land somewhere remote, loot 2-4 buildings and then hole-up, but this leaves me short later in the game as I don't often have enough equipment to compete when it gets down to ~25 players remaining.

I also need to buy a new monitor, at present picking out players on an ancient 1280x1024 monitor is difficult, especially when under fire.

This isn't a bad strategy actually. A lot of people go to the higher loot areas straight off the plane get in a fight and get killed. By the time you have been to a few clusters of houses you can be fully geared and half of the players are dead too making it easier to get a higher score. I tend to go to more than four houses though.

I've put in a silly amount of hours already. Fire it up for some squads after dinner and when I next check the time it's 4am. Awesome, awesome game.

As above, whenever I go central remote I usually get top 20 before I even get fired at. Its a very good strategy. Although dropping into the nearest city is quite fun, usually turns into a deathmatch.

Poi is my nemesis city, for some reason I always get killed there so I avoid it like the plague yet the others are fine.

Another little tip is to to look up then hold W when you jump from the plane, you can fly a long way before the chute opens. Also hold down the Alt key when you are moving around so you can look everywhere. As the circles start shrinking a lot of players head to the big hill tops so always expect to meet players on them. Only drive cars if you are a long way from the circle and need to get in quickly as the are noisy and easy to spot.

I had another squad win yesterday and some really good duos with a guy who is pretty terrible when I spectated him but we got into the top 10/15 a lot by avoiding trouble early on.

Hahaha we just won a squad game doing something similar. We hid in a bathroom towards the end of a match and when the circle was at its smallest we popped out and killed the last two guys.

Reading with massive, massive envy. cry

This game has made me seriously look at PC gaming. It looks to be the game I've been waiting for, for a long long time. Delighted to hear the devs advise that it will come to console at some point. I gather that the graphics are capable of being run on PS4/Xbox.

In the meantime, I'll get my kicks from watching... hehe

On duo/squad, are you matched with a ranom, or can you choose your mates?

ETA might look at NA, I have lag & drop out with the EU ones-last match I was more or less dead centre with the circle, well armed & hiding in a dirty bath, and got dropped frown

The north american servers are way better than than EU servers and are still perfectly playable. You don't get the lag spikes and rubber banding at all.

We play squad games a lot and its fifty fifty whether you get a random person joining you. We often play with three of us and sometimes you get a random with you. Most of the time they try and stay with you but sometimes they just go off and do their own thing. I wouldn't do a duo with a random but its possible but ultimately probably pointless.

I'm getting better slowly, I am getting a better idea of where players are likely to be. I've had luck finding houses between a large city and where the circle is moving to and hiding and waiting for the players that will inevitably pass through. Surprise!

There is a shooting range to the north of the map that I've visited a few times, but only when it is a long way from the path of the plane in order to minimise encounters. The times I've visited there has been a lot of equipment on the range itself.

New patch is beauty.

Much easier to hear footsteps now and they found the primary issue causing server lag (a bug in the UE core code related to DDOS/packet loss).

I don't tend to play games that often these days (as mentioned on the 'too lazy to play games' thread), and apart from the occasional session of DayZ I haven't much experience of online/multiplayer gaming. However, I took the plunge over the weekend and downloaded this, and so far (despite being useless) I have to say it seems good fun.

A summary of my experiences so far...

1st attempt - managed to land fairly centrally in the safe zone, found a shotgun and then holed up in cover. Heard plenty of gunfire but no sign of anyone, time went by and the number alive dropped to less than 30. Emerged from my cover and came across a supply crate, as I went to investigate someone stuck their head round the side and shot me.

2nd attempt - landed pretty much next to another player, we both legged it towards the nearest building, but he found a gun first. Cue me legging it the opposite direction whilst taking fire. He followed me into a building where I frantically ran in circles trying to punch him, until he dropped a grenade and left me to it...

3rd attempt - picked up a few weapons and then a car, thought I'd set a trap by driving the car around, making a bit of noise and then abandon it and lie in wait. Sort of worked, picked up my first kill, but then was promptly shot when looting the body.

4th attempt - ran around a bit and promptly died...

5th attempt - ran around a bit and promptly died...

6th attempt - ran around a bit and promptly died...

and so on... hehe

TLDR - I'm currently down about 15:1 for deaths/kills

I heard that this is going to be available in consoles at some point, hopefully in a not too watered down state

I only just saw this game on facebook the other day, there is a guy who streams himself playing from 1-3pm pacific time called StoneMountian64.

I don't usually watch that kind of thing but as I hadn't heard of the game I had a quick watch and found it interesting!

He made it to the last 3 the time I watched I think, does the circle get smaller every so many minutes until everyone is on top of each other?

Not sure my oldish PC would compete with newer gaming rigs for current FPS as I'm still a CS:Source player but an interesting concept compared to the usual team/free for all!
