Really enjoyed the first game .Is this more of the same or have they improved on it ?
I would say yes and no (from my PS5 playthrough). There are some improvements (you can glide and later on go one better).......But also too many weapon types needed IMHO. I guess it is fair to say I think it is worth playing, after all I bought and paid full price on the PS5, completed it and have still bought it for the PC to play again (hopefully with improvements in graphics too)....

Downloaded last night and got a quick 15 mins on. Having a weird issue where the game isn’t picking up my controller inputs.
Jumped back on fifa without changing anything and it worked perfect.
Game is visually stunning though , looking forward to completing it

IF it's the same as the first game, there is a setting in the graphics bit where the cutscene bars can be black or they sort of blur a doubled image from the edge of the scene into the bar so it gives impression of it filling screen.
I used it on my 21:9 ultra wide and found it more pleasing than the bars. Ingame ultrawide was fine though

Just an FYI, but a 7800x3D + RTX4090 give the following FPS on the highest preset (very high):
- 90+FPS native, no DLSS or FG
- 120+FPS DLSS Quality, no FG
- 180+FPS DLSS Quality + FG

Photo mode allows for some nice shots, although it's a shame you can't host .JXR format (around 20mb per pic) as they look so, so much nicer.
Anyway, I had this on PS5 but never finished it. Looks nice even on a reasonable PC and fantastic on a more powerful one.

It's also worth mentioning that if you are on a regular 16:9 screen, with the field of view set to max, this is how much viewing area you can gain by setting your display to 21:9. The images are 16:9 FOV on max & 21:9 on max, both at 4k res. The white lines show roughly where the 16:9 image cuts off, so you can, if you wish, gain everything to the left and right of those white lines.
Yes, you get some black bars top and bottom, but if your screen is a decent size it's fine. I use a 48" OLED 120hz screen, so the difference is minimal.

One issue I've found playing on mouse and keyboard is the 'double tap W/A/S/D to dive' mechanic. I accidentally trigger it quite often, typically near cliff edges or on the platforming sections when I'm trying to adjust exactly where I'm stood. Anyone found any good alternatives to this?
A suggestion I'd make to anyone is to have a good look through all the settings menus as there's some really helpful stuff if there if you want to use it. There's a setting that allows you to always see where you can climb up walls that by default you have to tap 'V' to see. You can adjust how much time slows down when you bring up the weapon wheel too so it's less panicky when you're trying to make arrows with a machine leaping at your face. Sure, you can say all these things make life too easy, but it's great to have the choice.

I was thinking yesterday that the main storyline felt a bit short as I understand I'm getting close to the end. It would have been even shorter if i hadn't done a shed load of side quests, errands and other optional things. But I've just looked at Steam and I've already put 44.2hrs in! With the additional DLC i could see myself putting 100hrs in easily.
I could spend ages going on about all the good aspects of the game, but one annoyance I have is using the focus to scan enemies. It takes a good few seconds to scan them and then for the game to tell you the weaknesses, which is fine if you're still in stealth. But in environments like the Cauldron's when machines come at you that are already aggroed, it can be a real PITA if not impossible to scan them.

Played the first game on PS4, then forbidden west on PS5, then zero dawn again on PC and will probably play forbidden west on PC soon (new GPU to try in on though to be fair Zero Dawn played fantastically on my old 1080Ti).
Exactly the same as me.... I haven't had a chance to play Forbidden West on the PC yet though but I love the extra details on the PC in Zero Dawn.Gassing Station | Video Games | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
