TOCA Race Driver
Discussion
That would be the first one, which on the PS2 at least was a bit crap.
The second one was a lot better on PS and PC, apart from the rally stages. TOCA 2 is now around £20, but you may want to want for number 3 which is out at the end of Feb.

The only real problem I have with TRD2 and by the looks of it TRD3 as well is that they don't have the BTCC series included.
As Codemaster's started the ball rolling with TOCA 1 and TOCA 2 on the PS/PC which were just the BTCC, and then World Touring Cars on the PS also featured the BTCC, along with the TRD1. Its a bit anoying that they once again appear to be absent from TRD3.
I did read that they were ommited from TRD2 on the grounds that people complained that the BTCC series was to slow and the cars FWD (not true in all cases), damn shame if you ask me.

A nice alternative to GT4, as others have said it's strength is the variety of cars available, the career mode takes you through all these.
Also nice is you race many more opponents than in GT4 and the AI isnt too bad either. Gt4 AI can be pretty silly from time to time, IMO.
Enthusia Racing is ok as well, but I wouldnt pay more than a tenner for it. A good secondhand buy, not such a good buy at full price.
I reviewed GT4, Forza and Race Driver 2 for Ars Technica a while back. You can find my thoughts here: http://arstechnica.com/reviews/games/raceoff.ars

Although to be fair, BTCC is pretty crap these days, so why replicate it in a game? I'm much happier to see real British GT cars in the new version, which looks pretty good.

I know what you mean, but at least last years BTCC was an improvement with someone other than Vauxhall winning, but it would be nice to have the BTCC as well as the British GT.
On the BTCC theme, seem that if you order TRD3 from Game online you get a free ticket to the Silverstone round of the BTCC.
