Im finding TRD3 a real let down. The cars are easy to drive and very un-reactive (even in Sim mode). Dont get me started on the "don’t go on the grass rule". That gets turned off every time. The AI cars spin you around every chance they get. The one car race series are not great either. Why does 60's GT only have Corvettes, and Rally Cross only Clio V6’s. Mind you, im not that far through the game yet.
GT4 for me! or Forza if you have an Xbox.

I would buy a second hand Xbox with Forza or Project Gotham 2, depending on what floats your boat, sim or arcade
Use the PS2 to prop up a wonky table or something
Disclaimer : Yes I have them all, and yes it's all IMO, lol....
For me the lack of a decent force feedback wheel seriously hampers Forza, I also would not consider it anymore of a sim that GT4 (again I too have them all and its my opinion).
TRD3 is no sim either, but it is a fun game, with excellent damage (much better than Forza).
If its a decent sim for console go for Enthusia or Richard Burns Rally (either of which would require removing the PS2 from under the table).

It's all about the graphics
Xbox will waste PS2 all day long
In the vast majority of cases I would agree with you, but to me Forza just does not look as polished or as 'real' as GT4, particularly in the replays.
Its something to do with the textures on the cars, Forza's cars look a bit plastic and the 'real' time reflections always seem to stutter a bit.
However as I say in graphics GT4 is the exception, but in the area of racing games/sims I'm more than happy to sacrifice graphics for a halfway decent real-sim (Enthusia or Richard Burns Rally) and a good Force Feedback wheel.
Guess its all down to what you want.
