steering wheel is a bit of a reach isn't it? Try it positioned just in front of you, maybe even clamp it to the desk, that might work...I'm not sure though.

There's always one

Amount of time it has taken me to order the Vinyls has now made it seem worthwhile..

Next Project: Sequential Shifter..

cor that shifter has been around ages hasnt it - its still using a serial port !!

good work on that seat dave - looks a treat now the wood has been covered up. Where did you get the vinyl made up ?

I'm thinking of making somthing along those lines up but making a frame up which holds the screen and kit so you are sat low down like a car...

childish, but has to be done !!

There are some real good cockpits made by the RSCNet people, wow!
I might buy an ACT Labs Shifter... but a lot of cash so I think i'll stick to the custom made one And try and implement 4, 5, and 6 speeds into it

I've got the original Act Labs shifter, but not used it much lately tend to find paddles a bit easier in a race! It's good fun though, might have a go with it on GTL later

Im finding that on my cheap wheel it sometimes shofts down 2 gears in one click. Causes me to spin I think its got a bad switch in it.

If I where to buy a new wheel what would you guys recomend?

At the moment I have a £40 logitech one.

Go for a Logitech Momo Force if you can find one, rare and quite expensive (~100 on eBay)

Otherwise a Logitech Momo Racing or Logitech Driving Force Pro is the way to go

If your budget is higher then you are getting into the big league

mine does that too sometimes. Infact its the cause of pretty much all of the spins I have, and sometimes it causes me to crash into people, especially on the last corner of the last lap.

Just started practicing today - got a 1:54.5 in the Capri. Easy to make mistakes though - I particularly don't like that right hander before the last chicane, just can't seem to get the braking right. Also the line through Chateau d'Eau is rather weird

I've found the fastest line though there isn't the Formula One line

Was in a 30 lap night race on the public servers with MarkJohnson last night. Managed to get down to a 1:53 so I'm a lot happier now Mark was slowly pulling away in 1st place and I was 2nd when one of my new kittens decided to crap all over the sofa

A 5 minute cleanup operation took place whilst I parked in the nearest kitty litter (cats take note!) and I emerged still in 3rd place

but only coz everyone else had quit (why do people do that on the public servers?)

HHHmmmmmm, what car to use.

The panty - I can get around in 1.51's and have even scraped a 1.50 - but it needs 4 tyres changing at a pit stop and can throw you off pretty well!

The 906 - I have managed to pedal this round in the high 1.51s, but 1.53/1.54 i more likely. However it'll just need a 15 secs fuel stop halfway around.

I was pretty set on the 906 but the panty setting is pretty good, and it makes the 906 feel a bit hard to drive at the 4th gear chicanes on the GP extension.

Im going to stick with the elan.

In the 911 I can do 1.53 if I try very hard, but im going to crash ALLOT if I do that.

The elan can do 2.00 fairly reliably to im going to stick with that and hope you guys crash off... but with a 7-10 second a lap disadvantage im going to struggle on this track.

Well that was marvelous Got taken out TWICE second time buggering my suspension - manage to keep going at a slower pace and pit for fuel but press ESC instead of Enter, so got retired!

Going to watch Best of Top Gear
