Well, got caught up in a huge accident at the start, then spun again in frustration at the hairpin, dropping me to dead last.

Slowly caught my way up, im not sure what position I got upto I think 12th as people crashed and pitted.

Then around 5 laps from the end my fuel light came on
I had put in 17L or fuel not 17laps.
As I dont know how to request a pit stop, or how to use the speed limiter I decided to just run out of fuel. Rather than finish last.

Very frustrating end to an excelent race.
Bar the first lap I didnt crash once, and was lapping quicker than my quaifying pace at the end.

Sorry to the GT40 who crashed into my stricken car at the end.
As the fuel ran out it span and left me off the track but not parked as I intended, but you hit me anyway.

Not my favorite track at all, but it was fun.

Although I hadn't driven GTL since Weds I couldn't understand why my car was so undrivable, some laps were ok but the next it would break very easily in any corner. I think I need to take apart my pedals and give them a good clean which I haven't done for...er...quite a while as it was all throttle related, seemed very on/off and nothing in between.

Well that was marvelous Got taken out TWICE second time buggering my suspension - manage to keep going at a slower pace and pit for fuel but press ESC instead of Enter, so got retired!

Going to watch Best of Top Gear

Sorry AJ, I think one of those involved me and diver, in the twiddly little bit at the end sorry

Brilliant!

I choose the 906 and thought as long as I could still see Ian at pit time I might be OK for a win. 2nd place after lap one and the plan was working out.

I thought I would pit about lap 8/9 while in 2nd place for a dollop of fuel. I span just in front of the pits on lap 8, so thought better make it my in lap. This dropped me to 4th.

I kept plugging away and knew Ian would have to stop, when I did a test pit stop with the Panty It was about 35 secs with a set of tyres. I went past and gained 1st place with about 10 secs lead and 5 laps remaining....at this point my heart started beating pretty fast!

Ian was gaining around 1 sec or so a lap, and a half spin made him visible if I looked in my rear mirror!

The last 2 laps he was right behind, so I though I had better start driving defensive. The last lap was awesome.....he passed me, I passed him, then me made contact and he went on to win....nerve racking stuff I can tell you.

Great

It's OK Mike - I've nearly calmed down now I'm more pissed off with myself for pressing sodding ESC - Why can't they put an 'Are You Sure?' thing on that?!?

LOL - From the results you can see my beating heart after the pit stop meant my lap times suffered.

I SHOULD have one that, but great driving Ian!

Yep it was me that plowed into the back of you at the last righthander as I was too busy watching Mike in my mirrors to brake at the right point. Many apologies

I just watched the replay and we (Andy, Mike, PVA and myself) were having a right ding dong battle until about lap 7 when Andy escaped from the pits. I had a really scrappy race, lots of little mistakes that meant the GT40s kept catching me up, and when we were tussling it was slowing us all down. I knew I had to get away from them to allow time for my pitstop, but sadly it never happened and I dropped from 4th to 10th at the pit.

It shows you how close we all are in the midfield tho. Well done Davy - you nearly got 'im

What happened at the start Neil, were you asleep? I think Unc and myself both plowed into the back of you before you even moved?

That stationary 911 on the grid was infront of me - just managed to avoid driving into the back of him
Was having a fun race before it all went pear shaped - oh well, better luck next time

if it were'nt for those pesky 40s Mike was giving you a real hard time eh i decided to give you a little more room knowing you had to pit anyway, Mikes words were 'lets get Diver'
also quite funny earlier on when I let you go off and then you had the cheeck to type 'Good bye!' so I caught you up again to give you more hassle

me n Mike had a fantastic battle to the end like Davy and Ian, but as it turned out Mike was not man enough and cracked under the pressure he did better than you though Diver

Grats to Davy by the way for making Ian sweat for a change well done Ian!

Diver - Can i have a copy of the replay, pleeeeeeeez!

I've done that on more than 1 occasion ! Its a bit of a stupid oversight from 10Tacle not to have a confirm screen before ditching the race IMO

Apologies on the grid, after my fantastic last ditch qualifying lap, and my excited arm waving and desk banging, I had managed to knock out the pedal controller serial port.

I discovered this when I had no go...and two cars up my arse...

Ok, I'll yank my head out of my arse, and explain.

I obviously had a 'technical issue' at the start, which immediatly didn't help me. I then pushed my way back up to the front, until we got tussling into the latter corners. It was all staying clean until SOMEBODY t-boned me - dumping into the grass, and spinning wildly.

The 911 is a pig to get off the grass, and I ended up in 16th

Needless to say I was in no mood for softly softly racing any more.

I set off like a man posessed, and did some hard driving to claw my way up. Quickly pitted for fuel after about 4 laps I think, and then set off hunting down everyone.

Started to catch people up, but was finding it fustrating when people can clearly see when there is a 911 that is OBVIOUSLY going to go through a set of corners much faster than them. MOVE OVER for gods sake, I'm fed up of having to miss people because they can't move over, AND keep their speed up - it isn't hard!

Anyhoo, my hard driving slowly gets me back to 8th at best, until when I had driven the car too hard, and the tires started to go. This meant I made a couple of silly mistakes, causing me to spin, one of which undid all my hard work fro five laps or so. I clawed most of the positions back, heaving my way through some slower cars in my way, but it was only good enough to get me 10th.

A quick glance at my qualifying and fastest race lap tells me I should have been so much higher. Third should have been mine.

But once again, a race marred through some hot headed driving by others.

When racing for position there's actually no requirement for anyone to move over at all! If you're lapping it's a different story.

I tend to get out of the way myself as there's no way I'm faster than a '76 car, but it's not unreasonable for a '65 car to race defensively regardless of how much faster you are.

That said if they take you out it's a different story. My only real moment in the whole race was getting hit by someone who has spun and not looked before rejoining the tracki, I guess that's just the way it goes.

That was what I was driving at - there were parts of the track where I was clearly much quicker, and if you so somone bearing down on you at a considerable rate of knots - you should really give room - as in most cases I'll only get you on the next corner, and close the door in doing it - I've done it a few times to people who've done this, wheras those who are nice old chaps, and give me a bit of room get the same back - I'll try and stay out of their way.

Did you not get a stop go penalty for a jump start as you were trying to pass me before anyone else had moved? I just checked the replay too, piccy below. We're not all that slow

If not that's another thing that needs sorting by Simbin.

FWD who took me out on the first lap when I ended up last (email me offline to save blushes if you like...)?

Plus, how did you get the replay?
