You have to quit out before the server resets itself or else the game replay is the new set race (it overwrites the last race), although I left to watch Planet Earth I will be quitting soon after racing to get the replay anyway from now on

racing the GT40 vs the 76 cars is hard. OFten the laptimes are similar but through long sequences of corners the 76 cars are much much faster than the GT40. I won't move over for 76 cars and I'm not afraid to try and pass them either. I try not ot make silly moves that will result in both cars being taken out. If a 76 car is stuck behind me through corners its their job to not drive into me, not mine to make life easy for them. If you can't pass through corners or in braking zones because of my driving (bear in mind I am probably driving defensively in corners and braking zones) then I've earned my place ahead of you. I actually find its very easy to do this, all you need to do is drive quite slowly through corners where the car behind can't get past. the GT40 has good traction and great speed down the straight so all you need to do is get the power on early and you can keep pretty much any 76 car behind you.

Of course is someone is lapping me I'll let them past.

What I'm trying to say is, I think the 76 cars are fair game for the GT40s.

Thats a bit cheeky, but you are generally quicker than most - I'm talking of the back marker vs a spun front runner - its just not cricket if people actually try to slow you - it'd get you black flagged in real life...

I'll agree with you on that - indeed Dobbo and I had some great tussles, and I'm more than happy to accept firm but fair racing.

Well done Davy - you nearly got 'im

Take a look at the last lap of the replay - watch the dirt git bash me out of the way

He overtook me, I overook him, and then he bashed me off

I didnt bash you, I nudged you

You were so close to winning that one
If you hadn't messed up the last chicane the race was yours. I felt I had been a bit pushy so was taking the slow line through the final chicane to let you come back.

Next time you seem that quick, I'm just refuelling I think the tyres would have lasted the full distance.

just had a look at the replay...... it was me that hit you, but definately no vendetta on my part mate, I had just been hit hit up the rear by Lockstock which sent me across your bow where upon you T-boned me, this straightened me up and catapaulted me out of the corner and back into you, sry it happened Neil but doubt if I could have avoided it after just being hit twice by two different cars in one corner, it looks like the car is composed in the replay, but it most certainly was'nt

It was Lockstocks fault

anyway, stop crying you big pansy try Vienetta rather than Vendetta sweeeeeet........

MOVE OVER for gods sake

When racing for position there's actually no requirement for anyone to move over at all! If you're lapping it's a different story.

I tend to get out of the way myself as there's no way I'm faster than a '76 car, but it's not unreasonable for a '65 car to race defensively regardless of how much faster you are.

That said if they take you out it's a different story. My only real moment in the whole race was getting hit by someone who has spun and not looked before rejoining the tracki, I guess that's just the way it goes.

I'm not sure if that was me dobbo - in my defence I spun towards the end and it actually left me in the middle of the track. There were a lot of cars approaching so I figured it was best to stay where I was! As soon as there was a gap I reversed as fast as possible off the track to get out of the way. Can't remember if I hit anyone though.

To be fair to the slower cars - I picked one rather too slow last night and spent most of the race looking in my mirror rather than forwards. What I did notice was that most cars give a lot of room to the car they are overtaking but a few people (I honestly can't remember who) seem to barrel up behind and only pull out at the last minute to dive round. This happens regardless of whether I move off the racing line or not. This happened a couple of times and I did get nudged at one point when I'd left a lot of room and the car had seen me miles away. I suggest that in this situation the faster car should take some of the responsibility and try to accomodate the slower car. Don't fly up behind the car and pull out at the last minute because it could lead to the slower car moving over in panic just as you pull out.

Also it's not always easy to time it - Neil says that it's not difficult to move over but sometimes it is. For instance on a couple of occasions I knew cars where approaching and prepared to move over but then they don't close quick enough. By then a corner is approaching and it makes it difficult to know what to do. Inevitably you end up in the way on a bend and having to cross to the dead side of the track with cars fast approaching.

Just thought I'd add a slow drivers perspective!

OK, a bit late to this thread, great race

Just a quick question, how come I was beaten by LockStock? On the Final screen I was ahead of him.

On the last lap my car jumped into a barrier which killed the engine, but if you look at the lap times I completed my 16th lap in 1863.442 and then fell off (and killed my car ) on my 17th.

Where as LockStock only completed 16 laps as he was behind me and crossed the line after Ian, in a time of 1934.511.

So I would have completed my 16th lap before LS but he finished ahead of me :confussed:

Is it 'cause I crashed out?

Next thing, sorry to whoever was in the Capri I nurffed at the end of the 1st or 2nd lap, sorry but I really didn't expect you to be going so slow

Appart from that I don't think I crashed into anyone and in the first 10 laps I think I only spun twice;

Once following a Pantera, I just got carried away and accellerated out of a corner too early

And 2nd I was trying to pass a spun GT40 before he got back on the track, I went up the inside (into the chicane into the start/ finish straight) but was going too fast off line and spun

But appart from that and my last couple of laps when I realised I was a bit further back than I had thought I would be, I had a fantastic race

Each race is becomming more and more fun now!

Almost forgot... And there were no cars left on the grid for me to drive into this week, RESULT!

I agree. The best part of all my races is when I generally come acoss a pair of GT40s in my 906. They can murder me on the straights but I can out handle and outbrake them at the corners. As long as we all give eachother room (and we generally do), we have several position changes every lap. Last night I was clearly 1 or 2 seconds quicker than the GT40s but I had a very scrappy race and kept letting them back in again with too many mistakes

Now if we could just force them to have a pit stop too I might actually finish in front

probably not

However I think Mondello will be a very good track for the 906 vs GT40s saga - short straights, lots of corners and a couple of big brakes for 90 degrees and hairpins. No tactical switching of cars now gentlemen

Yup I enjoy racing the GT40s too maybe it's because I can't overtake the other '76 cars

On a side note: Driver, how on earth do you keep the 906 straight under braking? Do you have to use cadence braking?

It wasn't you Mark, I can't remember who it was, there were a couple of parked cars and I just clipped one, nothing serious, cost me a few seconds but didn't make any odds to my final result!

Because you didn't finish you don't score points I'm afraid, sorry! It's a shame because I saw you go out on the last lap, one minute I thought you were going to catch me, the next I saw a big cloud of black smoke and thought "phew!"
