I'm not much of a gamer myself and after reading the glowing reviews from folks on here and seeing the amusing screenshots, I decided to get a copy.

All I can say is, fantastic!

It is by far the best driving game I have ever played.

So cheers folks! And I hope to have a go on the online Pistonheads game sometime (just need to practice first!)

Well done Lee, always nice to see some fresh faces.

Please dont practice too much tho, its rather soul destroying for us older hands to get beaten by a 'rookie'

Just console yourself that even if you play blindfold, can only afford the Mini, don't know the track and are running on a Pentium 75Mhz you'll still beat PVA - he's hopeless

Having given up sim racing for a while (got a bit GPL'd out!), I've also just picked up a copy of GTL. When and where do you guys race?

Cheers,

Christian

Ello guys, glad to have a couple more GTL'ers!

We race our "official" league on sunday evenings, it started to all get a bit serious so this time we are racing ferrari 275's for maximum larks.

Most nights there is someone on the Pistonheads server so you can have a race there. If you want to join up all that we ask is that you throw a few quid Neil's way as he was the one who sorted us out with a spanking server on a fast link, without which we would be screwed.

What pc spec is required? I can't see any min requirements on the retailers pages...

I have:
Pentium 4 2.4ghz / 1.2gig Ram / 128mhz Geoforce graphics card...

Enough?

Should be enough...

The only thing i'm unsure of is the CPU, and you might want to upgrade Graphics if you want to run at full detail though!

DO you guys all use wheels and pedals or does it work well with joysticks and control pads?

I think a few people use joypads, and maybe 1 person uses a joystick. I couldn't get on with either, it's much more controllable with a wheel and pedals... A DFP is about sixty quid. The force feedback really helps you be faster too.

You an pick a Driving Force Pro up now (used) for much less than £60, so just go for it...

In fact I've seen some wheels go on eBay for less than I paid for the game itself
A few are down to about £10-15!! (Plus post though which is usually another £7-10)

I used to use the keyboard before I got a wheel. You can keep up with people after a bit of practice, but there isn't much point racing with anything other than a wheel - it just doesn't feel right.

Feck, I bought a FF wheel for my PS2 for playing GT4. Is there an adaptor for PC as it uses USB?

Depends which wheel it is.. If it's a Logitech you don't need an adaptor you can just plug it straight in

Woohooooo!! It's the Logitech GT4 special!!

All I need now is to fix my pc, been playing the GTL demo on my laptop all evening but it's slow and jerky, even on the lowest detail.

I thought the "GT4 special" was a driving force pro? In which case it will work.

That's what I thought but may differ slightly so just give it a try and see what happens

It is a DF pro, so in theory should work. Give me a week to sort my PC out and I'll get practising!

Right, PC arrives on weds. Got a demo version of GTL on my laptop but it's very slow. What is a good laptime around Dijon in an Elan or E-Type?
