Just got a new whizzy PC, and would love to get into GTL etc. I've got no room to set up a wheel/pedals though, plus I've never got on with nay of the ones I've tried. I would really like to use a PS2 style pad, ie one with an analogue stick for steering, and then analogue brake/accelerator BUTTONS (rather than another stick). I got a thingy a while back that adapts the PS2 controller into a USB PC controller but it only gives digital buttons Had a look at logitech etc and it seems like no one makes one with analogue buttons. Any suggestions?

You can use the Xbox 360 controller with the PC I believe. It has 2 analogue triggers which are used for accelerator and brakes on the console. Please note I haven't done this myself so I'm not making a promise that it will work but I remember reading it in several places.

I've got a Playstation to USB converter for my computer, and the analogue sticks work with that. Have you checked to make sure you haven't just got them turned off in the driver. My adaptor came from Play.com

I have room for a wheel (i own a few!) but like a quick blast on a pad, so i'm in much the same position as you.
I don't like using the sticks for the throttle/brakes either, i too prefer buttons, but i also prefer manual to automatic.
This means sadly that any option such as using an Xbox pad (or dreamcast one like my friend does) means you need to use buttons to change gear. That is also rather pants!.

My PC PS2 pad adapter does not allow the analog buttons to be used, so tbh i am a bit stuffed in the pad department.

It's either accept auto allowing me to use the triggers or use digital throttle/brakes sadly.

He is saying he wants to use the buttons matey as apposed to the sticks, so they probably do work just fine.Like me though he would prefer to use analog buttons

Thanks for the replies guys, have ordered an Xbox controller and GTL from play.com. Must get the decorating finished before they arrive cos I sure as hell won't be doing it afterwards! Bit concerned about the gear changing but I'm sure I'll get used to adifferent pair of buttons for it.

Happy to say that the Xbox controller works brilliantly with GPL, I have been using the triggers for acc/brake, two of the fourbuttons for gear up/down (under my right thumb) and the right analogue stick for looking around inside the cockpit. All very smooth and intuitive. Having a whale of a time blasting round in the lotus cortina at the moment, just completed the first set of challenges, will have to get online once I can do more than three laps without spinning out!
