A while ago, there was a mention of us all meeting up somewhere for a series of races and a bit of a social. Getting a hall organised with broadband, sturdy tables to mount steering wheels, places to stay and so on proved to be too big a job.

Instead, how about a get-together somewhere for a shot at karting? Let me know who's interested and I'll try to find somewhere central and an idea of the prices.

Personally I like the idea of getting 2 teams together to compete against each other; that way those with karting experience don't win everything and the lardy ones (me) have a chance at glory too!

sounds like a great idea to me

I have a bit of experience karting

Whilton Mill is a fairly central kart track.

I'm hoping to be back in the North East in a month or so, and would be mad-keen to join in. Any chance of a crack at Ian Parker?

do you mean warden law docevil? There is also teeside karting in middlesbrough. both are good tracks but the karts are a bit better (more even) at the one in middlesbrough.

I do mean Warden Law. I'm not a massive fan of the 'boro track to be honest, too bumpy and long for my tastes. Warden Law has just got a load of new karts in though, mucho fun!

I thought warden was longer than langbaurgh? Langbaurgh is a lot more knackering than Warden Law though... pretty much every corner is flat out and warden does have that really fun hairpin and the three left handers after it.

the one I went to in 'boro had twin engined karts and the track was really long. Long enough for them to be opening it up as a track-day place (for road cars).

ah ok, they used the extension then. I've never driven it with the new track extension, but yeah, with that it is really really long!

I'm not chicken, I gave up karting 5 years ago. Did lots of endurance racing (being over an hour at the wheel between driver changes with refueling stops too) and sprints. My last race was at Silverstone, 6 sprint heats and a final (run in night time conditions) won my heats got pole won the final by half a lap (:cough: Hughsie2 :cough

I won't race them anymore, I'm only 6ft tall but the back pain I got and wrist pain from the wheel was too bad. I prefer a more stretched out driving position with the wheel in front of me and more vertically positioned.

So I've given up on them and won't drive them again. So count me out
