You really need to take your time..But it`s really great to play if you can just resist hoofing it up into 5th..

warn any family members/friends/neighbour before you start the rally season proper because boy will you get angry when you clip the tiny tree/rock/muppet with camera on the last stage and fail to finish the rally.

I managed to finish the training and a full season using a keyboard. A rare, and very frustrating, feat of gaming! Planning to try it again now that I have a wheel/pedal.

Just take it easy. Take the training modules seriously: mastering each exercise helps. In a season, drive it like you are driving a real rally and aim to finish, not win. It's a very satisfying game if you can get the hang of controlling the cars properly.

It's a game that is held in high regard, even among real professional rally drivers who have had a go at it. There was an article on the web about a Finnish or German (I can't remember) rally crew who reviewed the game with CMR05, and their opinion was good. The physics model is a bit quirky at times, with the main complaint that dry tarmac grip is too low. However, it is as an authentic driving experience as you will get without sitting in a real WRC machine.

Good advice. Just given it a go, at a bit less than mach 1 this time and I finished a stage!

I love this game. Best car game on the market imo. I have set stage record on all the stages and on my favourite I beat the record by 55seconds! What I struggle most with is Hairpins on the france stages - nothing like the ones in training!

Just got hold of this game for a tenner the other day, and am very impressed so far. I've heard lots about it, and it seems pretty hard. I ran each training excercise through and through until I could match the speed and general sideways-ness and attitude of the pace car, and am getting to grips with throwing the car about in the stages - great fun! I think I need to use the input filter menus to set my brake pedal up properly though, I'm finding it hard to brake hard from a high speed at the mo....

RBR is the first game where I feared going too fast.

Other games, even hard-core "sims" like GPL, GTL, etc., can feel fast and can be difficult to control when pushing the limit. But they have yet to give me a real conviction to slow down and take care when playing.

In RBR, if I'm flooring it on a blind "fast right", my guts clench slightly at the thought of tumbling off the road!

Great game.

I used to love GPL. It's crap on a keyboard though.

Indeed, just when you think it's safe to open it up just a liiiitle bit, you come barreling down a hill through some fast kinks, each one slightly less in control than the last, you just know the crash is inevitable - indeed a gut clenching feeling. Also, if by some miracle it just stays on the road, a big sigh of relief, and a "best be a little more careful" feeling.
