BF2 Probs

I am having problems when playing online. keeps freezing after 10 mins or so. not sure why
I have to reboot the PC, any suggestions.

I have had to re install windows and updated the graphics driver, moterboard etc.. all works apart from the problem with BF2.
I set all the graphics to max as per normal, PV running 7800 gtx and fx-57 processor

never had this problem before. would that change just when i re installed windows?

Check that the fans are all working and nothing is blocked. I had a fan stop in me last week and it caused my Gfx card to overheat and just locked the screen, complete freeze. Only knew when I opened up the case and had a look.

PS It only happened when under heavy load (games) not with Windows when it was fine.

Maybe try rollback to previous driver versions that worked.

Did you have a problem that caused you to do a windows reinstall? Could it be related?

edited to say: v1.3 is causing problems with bf2 servers - its not just bad luck that you've hit several crashing servers in a row is it?

i will check the fans to make sure they work. I have only installed BF2 on my pc but will try and see if it happens with other games too

many of the BF2 online games are crashing due to the 1.3 patch.

All the servers will be 1.3 so you can't roll back the client

First off, I would just try connecting to a few different servers. Since v1.3 I find problems with bf2 either freezing or crashing back to desktop with no warning. Its happened at most 3 times in a row but once you hit a stable server (maybe one thats been rebooted recently?) it tends to be fine for as long as you want to play it for.
If that doesn't work, I would check another game, then maybe rollback your drivers to the versions that worked before. If still problems then perhaps get hold of diagnostic software for some of your hardware.

you can make a fresh install with the older update, just there will be about 15 servers in the list, Ive done it

well i have installed a few games and all work on max graphics etc... so its not the PC fans that are at fault.

i always use ea uk servers but will truy others and see what happens

EA are well aware of this problem, our clan have been providing feedback to them, the fix is scheduled for mid July allegedly

OK for no reaon it seems to be working better now. Also started playing CS but I am very rusty after playing BF2 since it was first out.

Just a quick question, I would like the new downlable maps but are they worth it and how easy is it to get them?

Ah, the Euroforces and the other one. Haven't got them, I only have the Special Forces one and the community developed Mercinaries add-ons. Both recommended if you don't have them.

Euroforces is...OK I'd say. For 6 quid or whatever they're charging its probably worth it just for the amazing german accents when playing as EU force! haha. You get 3 maps & the new EU force. Lots of tank battling I find.
The more recent one - armoured fury(?) - I really like that. Its set in the USA which is being invaded by Jihad & chinese forces. One map is set on a kind of busted up american freeway spaghetti junction - all land. Another is a night time one set in Alaska - map is split down the middle with water. The last one is set in farmland which I think is the best one - lots of big open fields, farms, treelines, river, bridges etc. Reminds me a bit of that 'bocage' map from bf1942 but bigger and better with more stuff. Worth it for 6 quid. There are also tank busting planes & little fast recon helicopters with miniguns which are ace.
To download either update, you have to first buy it online through the EA website. Once bought it then appears in your EA downloader tool thing (you have to download that from EA too) and you can download it.
