Arghhhh.

I buy what could be an awesome game, and find that it's half finished like GT Prologue.

I just want to take it back and forget it as another Polyphony boob!

a) Controls, NO left hand thumb joystick for both throttle/brake AND steering. So now I need MORE buttons, but I essentially waste my left hand because all it can use is L1/2 buttons and the D-pad which is far too sensitive for motorbike steering.

b) Now when I do use the right hand thumb for throttle/brakes AND steering, I don't have much control left with my fingers.

c) To get the traction control low (can it even be turned off!?!??!) I need to use pro-mode, but to use pro-mode I loose auto-crouch and brake biasing, so I need MORE fingers free!

d) b and c added together and basically I have no spare fingers and to enjoy the game with a loose rear wheel under power (only just with some TC still left) I can't actually brake effectively or enjoy manual gears, and even then find crouching very tough when needed!

The whole game is essentially ruined for me by them having limited control features (same as GT Prologue, but GT4 was fine, WHY limit it you stupid idiots?)

Secondly, why have TC and auto-crouch tied in with other features I do or don't want? Why have traction control at all? I can't even get the front wheel off the ground on any bikes, or get the rear wheel spinning, so takes away a fundamentally challenging part of riding the faster bikes.

I really honestly have no idea what they were thinking. It's just poor. Do you think "Game" will take it back for the above reasons? Ie, I hate it, flawed ruined game setup for a double right handed person!

I don't personally have an issue with the control set-up on TT, but can fully understand that it could drive you nuts if its not to your likeing.

As far as not being able to pull off wheelies, it can't be done on all bikes, but it certainly is possiable.

I think you may have the failiure conditions tunred on, check the Race Settings on the options menu.

As far as Game taking it back, they always used to have a very open returns policy, and may I suggest you try TT Superbikes instead.

I'm already experimenting with different control layouts, but my right hand thumb just doesn't have the years of GT3/4 practice that the left one has, and so slip around and isn't quite so finely controlled.

Going to butcher a controller and try hotwire one into the other so both joysticks act as the RH one...

Hmmm, looks like wheelies and such are possible, I think I need to read the manual more. But it's frustrating that these settings are not like the settings in GT4, just TC and stability control, and are hidden in oddly named drop down menu's

It is a great game, it's just these niggles, but if you can get around them then that is cool

The sense of speed is mental, was on the Aria circuit and using the Suzuki 1000cc GSXR, it really is MUCH more challenging than the cars, with your line being easily twice as important with little room for adjustment or ability to adjust!

Have you tried the 'ring yet?

Now that is far more challenging in TT than in GT4.

Well, to wheelie you have to lean back, and forward for nose wheeling. To do that you use the left hand thumb stick. Odd that this isn't mentioned in the manual... and you can't alter it either

Seems if you mess with the controller setups too much you loose that control, who knows where it goes but I've read of some users (on gtplanet.com) not being able to do wheelies anymore on their save game, and simply can't get the control back after changing things

Why PD do this with their odd GT releases is beyond me, every control should be defineable!

Ah well, just going to have to learn some better controls, I just cannot do with steering and throttle/brake on two different sticks, with the steering one doing front/rear lean too!

Arghhhh

Still a great game when you get it right, just I can't flow anywhere yet, more end up tapping random buttons in a panic on the apex

I'm a member over at GT Planet (user name - Scaff) and most of the problems people have with losing the wheelie option comes form setting the (pointless) Failure Conditions to 'On'.

I must confess as I've not messed about to much with the controller layout its not been a major issue for me, I've used the right stick for throttle/brake and the left stick for steering on virtually ever GT game, so it just 'fits' well for me.

Yep, managed to get a system thats working nice for me now.

Still finding the right thumb slipping using it for steering and accel/braking, and having R2/L2 as gears makes some sense if I want to use manual which is that bit nicer.

Makes so much sense now though, leaning front to back. It's honestly shocking there is no mention of it in the manual, how daft!

Think I need to put some sandpaper on the top of the right hand mushroom pad so I get good grip

Now I'm comfy I can attempt a lap of the Ring without falling off
