Homeworld is a great game, but I got a little bored of the sequels.
It just seemed preposterous to me that in earlier games you would reserch all this advanced weaponary and then start afresh just knowing how to make a basic fighter.
I also got very fed up with the prescriptive way you had to play it.
An open ended game (as much as possible) using the same combat engine would be one of the greatest games ever. A Total War set in space if you will.
