Nice little write up here of a GT4 players foray into driving the ring for real.

Nice report, we were there yesterday after completing our banger rally in a £68 mazda 626, overtook the guys in the 75's on their sighting lap. Car coped fine with the ring as 3 of us had a lap each, then died on the way home just outside Brussels

My time spent whizzing around it on the PS2 and XBox did help my colleagues though as I was giving out rough advice on what corners were coming up and whether they should be braking more for them.

Good article. I'm reasonable sure that it was probably one of those Alfa 75's that was behind myself and a buddy when he destroyed his new Copper S at the 'Ring 2 years back. I had seen the Alfas arrive on a transporter, and tried to caution my friend to let them past when they caught us before Metzgesfeld. He was just starting to move aside when the red mist descended, and he changed his mind. The armco alone cost over a grand. Eejit.

As for the motorcyclist mentioned in the piece, that kind of crap is par for the course. I have yet to go to the 'Ring when at least one motorcyclist didn't get carried away by the air-ambulance. The disturbing thing, is that though someone may die or be paralysed on an early morning sighting lap, and though the circuit may be closed for half an hour whilst limbs and organs are swept from the track - back at the entry barriers, 50 quid says there will be a gaggle of morons on machinery they can't handle making jokes, whilst queueing up to go out and try to drive their heads through the barriers lining the circuit. I've a healthy respect for someone that can handle a powerful bike, but it seems that a lot of bike riders head to the 'Ring with a really careless attitude.
