V8Factor has been released for rFactor today http://forum.rscnet.org/showthread.ph the Bathurst track is awesome. All the 2006 cars are painted in their team colours, I had a quick go around the mountain, I'm only 10 secs off the pace so far, 2.22.548

Definitely the most anticipated mod for Australian players. I smell rFactor Central's Hall of Fame for this one (the car mod and the Bathurst track).

Hmmm, pretty hard to drive this, compared to RD3. Doing 2.21.125 at the moment.

I wonder if cars from different teams have varying performance (I'm currently driving a DJR Ford Falcon).

Only 10 seconds? According to the loading screen, the fastest lap record is 2.06.8594. It's more like 15 seconds off pace.

Looks like we both have a lot of practicing to do.

2:17.883 for me. There's more left in the track but certainly not another 10 seconds.

I've just done my first laps, getting down to a 2m15.1s, still had it crossed up twice under braking at the top of the mountain and lifted (braked) turning right into the Caltex Chase, not quite got that flat out yet.

I think 2m10s will be done by us mere mortals but nothing to get close to the real lap times for a long while yet. And I think that's a good thing

Just tried the Ford, I must be a Ford man I guess.

The makers have already said that it is not possible to achieve Greg Murphy's lap record (2 minutes 6 secs), due to some small issues in the track. But I noticed some people on RaceSimCentral have gotten down to 2 minutes 9 seconds or something like that, which is simply amazing.

The cars have virtually no downforce at the front, so you need to turn in a little early, and then drift out of the exit under power on some corners.

Slightly lowering the default tyre pressure helps too.

Yep, I hate understeer so I'm doing that in most places I can get away with it, turn 1 (I've been clipping the inside curb most laps) and especially through the fast left handers over the Mountain section.

I turned down the default rear wing setting to 12 to do the Ford time above, my thinking being if I have little front downforce and lots of rear I'll turn it down to try to equal the grip front/rear

2:16.294 - I changed to a different car but didn't alter any of the setup. Are the cars different or did I just do a good lap?

I think they are all different or maybe a very slight difference between the Ford & Holden. Although they are equally matched in the real series too. I think you're just getting used to it like I was when I did some more laps.

Managed to claw the lap time down to 2.19.525. Still lots of mistakes, but consistency is very hard to achieve. wobble

Gone back to a Holden and chose Greg Murphy's car for a bit of inspiration and after a handful of laps I'm into the 2m12s now, I'll probably start messing with the setup next to see what can be changed.

2m12.3s (this was a pretty clean lap too, only a little brake locking in some places) - www.mercia.biz/rfactor/Bathurst-FWD-2m12-3s.Vcr
