Cardboard boxes on wheels eh.. strange.

Maybe the 1024 skins can only be seen at that resolution?

I've had no trouble at all, with anything I've installed or ran.

As for installing I always create a new folder on my desktop and call it rFactor, point the installer to that or extract everything needed to that, to make sure that the next level of folders are correctly installed. Then just drag them all over to my proper rFactor folder. There are installers that some people use for their mods but equally as many people complain about them as they do for those who don't use them. If there is a problem with yours, then something hasn't been installed or copied across properly, there is a full ETCC v1.11 all in one install. Get hold of that, if you still have a problem then it's technically specific to your setup.

I've only got a 2Mhz CPU with 1GB ram, although I do have a 512mb 7800GS card. Yet I run at 1280x1024 all the graphics display settings to the highest (max or full) and 4x AA. I never see less than 35fps anywhere including on the grid waiting for a race at night (I have auto FPS set at 35 after testing to make sure it was a suitable limit, ie not stupidly high like 80fps which I read some people setting theirs to oblivious to the fact they can't ever get 80fps in normal gameplay. In reality and in racing I see between 50-90fps on track.

Sorted now

Just reinstalled the patches a couple of times and eventually it worked. The 1024 patch is much better, but you still get a couple of cars with see through bodywork every now and then.

May be online later

Good-O.

Edited - I deleted the previous stuff I posted as I think that was the older RFX v0.4 not the latest proper release. Which should be out soon anyway.

How do people find the ETCC AI?

I'm having a hard time against the BMW's at Toban Park. They are around 1:00.00 and I can only just nudge 1:02.00 at 95% AI strength which is what I normally use

They seem to out-brake me considerably!

You can actually make the AI learn in rFactor.

How to make the AI less stupid said:

AI LEARNING....step by step guide!!!!
OK seems like there is some confusion with AI learning mode,
This is how I do it.

A) Make sure you do NOT have rFactor running in the background when doing the following or

else the modified file will revert back to the none modified state.

1) go into your player file at C:Program Files FactorUserData<yourname><yourname>.plr

2) goto the line Autocalibrate AI Mode=0 and modify to read Autocalibrate AI Mode=1

3) now click exit and SAVE the player file.

B) Start rfactor and choose Any mod, then SETTINGS and change the following SETTINGS

in the RULES section.

1)Flagrules,Fuel useage and Tire Wear to either NONE or OFF
2)Private Testing ON

Now on the right side of the Rules screen change to the following settings:
a)AIDrivers=1
b)RACE GRID Position=1
c)RACE START TIME=8:00 am
d)RACE TIME SCALE=NONE
e)Mech. Failures=off
f)TYPE OF START=STANDING

C) Choose the car u want under VEHICLE to teach AI to run this car type properly on any track.

Go to TESTING and

Choose the Track to be learned and LOAD CIRCUIT (bottom right) and DO NOT click on RACE.
a) Make sure u are in the MONITOR mode screen, and click on ADD AI.

b) Ai will now start its training and tells you to STAY OUT OF MY WAY HUMAN, donot go

on the track to drive your own car, just watch AI.

c) press the VIEWING button to view the AI on the track.

d) Now press the R button on the keyboard to be shure the driving window will show

'LIVE' in the upper edge of the viewing screen.

E) HighLight the AI on the track, by LEFT clicking on the AI's name in the MONITOR

field, you will now see his best times change, as he progresses.

After Watchin him at least two laps LIVE, then press (Ctrl) (T), this will speedup the time it

takes to run a lap, but will NOT effect the accuracy of the Learning Mode. It will just make

the AI finish his learning mode faster in human time.

Now we assume that the AI finished his learning mode and told you he has xxx.xx meters left

over, if at this point the meters left over does not show 0.0x, do the folowing.

1) Make sure the AI's name is highlighted in Orange color, then click on BOOT.
(You are deleteing this AI from the Learning mode)

2) Click on ADD AI.

And now u will see a new AI name (if you have more then one ai's) and he will now continue the

learning mode where the last AI left off. This second AI willget the amount of meters leftover

to 0.0X, and when he finishes the INI file created will be updated/overwritten.

Speaking of the INI file, The following is the manipulation needed for all the cars to use it

not just the team that did the AI LEARNING.

Look in C:Program Files FactorGameDataVehicles<car><team> now in the TEAM that did the

learning there will be a <trackname>.INI file, THIS is the file that neeeds to be moved so

that all cars in the chosen mod can use the updated learning file. What you do is CUT the file

and paste it in the CAR directory of the effected car. So SAVE it to C:Program

Files FactorGameDataVehicles<CAR>. The dir that has the .HDV and .TBC and other car related files in it.

NEXT STEP I THINK IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!

Go into your C:Program Files FactorUserData<yourname><yourname>.plr file and reset
the line 'Autocalibrate AI Mode=1 and modify to read Autocalibrate AI Mode=0 again.

!!!!!Also go back into SETTINGS and reset all RULES as you previously had them!!!!!

This might help to keep the game from getting confused when u go to drive the cars.

HAVE FUN!!!

NOTE:
What is meant by Meters left over after the AI finished the learning mode??

Well the IDEAL line on any given track has an IDEAL total length, over the whole trajectory of the track.

So what is meant by 'Meters left over' is by how many meters the trajectory of the testing car is LONGER then the IDEAL LINE trajectory length.

In other words the car traveled xxx amount of meters FURTHER then the IDEAL LINE (trajectory).
That is why we want the meters LEFTOVER to be as close to 0.00 as possible.

It's got a special 64,000 BIT parallel processor and is cooled by squirrels tears so doesn't need to be that fast.

What doesn't work? rFactor, the ETCC mod offline or ETCC online.

It'll be one of 2 things, corrupt download or bad installation. Check that everything you expect to have installed for the ETCC are in the correct folders. If not there's your problem, if they are then it points to the download. Maybe it lost a file or two and hasn't installed them.

Just playing ETCC online causes the problem, all the files seem to be there, I've tried droping the files in, and the exe.
