EA are taking the piss with the advertisting spyware. I certainly will be avoiding EA products now until i know i have the option of removing said spyware. I wouldn't mind but most of their games were shit before this - now they are even less appealing !!

I had no awareness of the adverts issue, but was only this weekend saying that I thought EA were going downhill.

Their modern games don't have nearly as good gameplay as their old ones. Well that's my experience from the football ones and Need for Speed most wanted.

They seem to have become very business-led - selling games much more frequently without much difference between them, and the main features, changes and concepts in their products seem to be business-y ones, such as official in game music from big artists, link ups with other companies/products, i.e. lots of nice contracty/moneymakey ideas but the focus on gameplay seems to be further down. I suspect ringtones will be the next thing in their games - a surefine sign of a company happy to make money from anything no matter what evils they need to perform to do it!

They release a football game every few months just for suckers who want the latest player names and team line ups, but I think with little difference between each game. They even released a 'road to the world cup' footie game (which got slated) AS WELL AS a 'world cup' game. I've got the world cup one and it's not too bad though, but gameplay on other footie games is apparently better.

Your right, this incarnation of EA wouldn't have released something like Magic Fly or any of the other odd but good games they published in the mid-late 90's. For those that missed that title, it's what Descent was a rip off of 6 years later

Speaking of which I must break out my Emulator and finish that sucker, and stab Millenium 2.2 as well.

I mean, while I was job seeking I started this, and by the end I must have played every old game I ever had rather than looking for a job! Took up a good few months.

Ahh, I only play after 6pm when Jobserve and co's e-mails drop off, plus my mobile is set to vibrate so easy to spot when it goes off
To be honest I spend far more time writing books/stories and poking around Pistonheads than I do gaming these days.

totally agree.... Where are these adverts?

Incidentally my Norton picked up on some new spyware after I had installed so without thinking I said yes to Nortons "delete?" question. Hasnt affected game play one bit so not sure if it was the dreaded advert bug or not.

Can only get worse.

Young men generally dont read as much Newspapers, watch as much TV and the advertisers are banging their heads together to find a way of showing you the latest shaver, drink, Porsche, casino etc etc.

I would love to know what they pay for "brand placement", all those banners on the racetracks in GT4 for instance ares seen by what 15 million owners across the world?

Nope - I have it on good authority that Porsche won't use paid messaging in "lifestyle" products/publishing.

I had a great day at Silverstone yesterday...

They only have a game on the Playstation dedicated to their very own Boxster

What were you doing at Silverstone yesterday BTW? Trackday?

Their own game is a little different than forced advertising within current "big thing" purchases. Then again nothing wrong with games based on actual racing events either (Carrera cup anyone).

I was at a Porsche business partners day - with obligatory driving around in the current product line up thumbup
