I've not played Eve since Thursday, getting withdrawal a bit but I have to say it's been nice to take a bit of a break from it. It can be overwhelming as a new player and even at nearly 2 months in, I've hardly scratched the surface. If I don't regularly take a break from the game I think I will burn out!

When I was last online I provided my full API keys to one of the recruiters (Toastjefferson (I think!?) was his name). I should be back on this evening to continue the recruitment process etc..

Toastjefferson is a good name. It's not his, (Toastofferson), but is a fun replacement.

Did you provide the 500m isk security deposit? If you've not then this would be the next step in the recruitment process once your API has been checked. I wouldn't worry about it too much as you'll get the money back if you stay in the corp for a month and is merely used to dissuade any spies or awoxers from joining. Also, do you need a hand moving to your new staging system? If you do then let me know and I'll jump a carrier down when you're next online and we'll get you sorted out...

Having just got all my st in one sock from the last evacuation, it's time to move house again.... sigh.

Drone skills are pretty good. Can control tech II light and medium scouts.

I have just logged off from battle (11:30) and they are still processing the aftermath and replacement tower. 6 hours in a fleet is pretty amazing. Waiting to see your write up of that epic engagement, as I spent a lot of it scouting the gates and listening to it unfold on comms. Can't believe I got torpedoed when it was all over bar the shouting.

Thanks for the link, too. I'll make sure I sign up through that when I do. Looking at getting online this weekend, running through the tutorial and then likely be missioning until I am comfortable with the game. Maybe comfortable is the wrong word to use...

Obviously, the skills are going to be key for training from the off (and pretty coplex in comparison to WoW etc...) - anyone got any advice where to start to get maximal gains from the outset. Does this depend on where I want the character to head? I think from previous experience in game I wouldn't be displaced for an Interceptor-based build to get me started. Definitely open to suggestion here though!

Keep skills training simple, focused and max out your support skills as early as possible as you'll reap the benefits when you move into a larger ship.

Get competent at flying frigs first before moving up to Destroyer, then to Cruiser etc...

I've seen so many people rush to get into a Battleship only to have a terrible fit without support skills - totally pointless and of zero use to any corp.

20m skillpoints and I realised yesterday I don't have any of the armor compensation skills. Fail tbh I mostly fly shield tanks but still!

Its not really that much of a fail tbh. I have a few alts that only have it to 2 or 3.

Newbie questions are never turned away. I'm not on Eve at the moment but feel free to ask here and I'll reply as best I can (if no-one beats me to it).

Train Cybernetics and stick in some +1 or above implants before you do anything else! +1s are only about 1m each so aren't that difficult to get but they'll strip days off longer training plans. I never fly without +3s in as I get them for free from my corp. Get yourself something like EFT or PYFA and train to a ship fit that you want with the Core Competency certificate interwoven into the plan.

Lost my first Capital last night. Was a week to go before insurance ran out so happy enough with that!

We were engineering a capital escalation with BALEX and Snuff by baiting their legion fleet. We knew they would counter drop our Bait Triage as we had eyes on their titan and home systems. We wanted the fight so off we went.

The legions were tanking our GalMil (kitchen sink) support fleet well enough as they had guard support and were spider-tanking as well but we got a couple of the guard and then the BALEX dreads jumped in so we counter-dropped. Their first dread took ages to go down and I couldn't get out of seige in time (forgot to refit for armour as I'm still so rusty!)

Came back in a cruiser as had limited ships nearby, by which time PL had decided this looked like a good fight so I spent the rest of the fight pew-ing Fighter bombers and whoring on a Vindie kill!
