So Apocrypha (the next EVE expansion) is now on test and has, amongst some good graphical improvements and the opportunity to rebalance your skill points, T3 ships.. anyone tested it yet?

Meanwhile back on the live server, if you live in 0.0, here's why you should never ever log out in a station:

Yes, those are anchorable bubbles.

Where do you log out in 0.0 if not at a station? Can these be destroyed so that you could log in a and find yourself as a new clone?

I'm just getting into Eve and have actually sold some stuff that I manufactured for profit!! Woo hoo! But the darker, 0.0 side of Eve is starting to lure me lol!

In 0.0 you get conquerable stations and NPC stations. Stations, once built, can't be destroyed. The conquerable ones are captured by corps/alliances and they can set who can dock and who can't. NPC ones can be docked at by anyone. It's never a good idea to log off in a station in the middle of a war because you can get camped in by the enemy (generally a gang will wait at the undock and prevent you from warping, as soon as you try you become targetable and get blown up). This is the most extreme camp I've ever seen, but I gather it did what was intended (stopping Kenzoku members from undocking and docking)

Judging by the responses on here there are quite a few eve players on PH.

Any chance anyone can setup a PH channel on Eve? Would be fun talking to other PH'ers on there.

I would do it myself but don't think i'll be back on until tomorrow, and I don't really know how lol!

Right I'm just about finding my bearings in this game now, I have been given my second ship but i have a few more questions.

1. what is the endgame of eve? is it corp vs corp race vs race or something else? and are we all working our way to a specific class of ship or does it depend on what background you selected when you created your character. (I went for a military background)

2. Is the market the only place to buy/sell in the game. I ask as Im trying to get some new weapons for my ship but from what I can tell none of what is in the market will fit it?

3. Is it better to have many average ships or one very good one? and if many what do you use them all for?

4. If you zoom out as far as you can go on the map is that the whole game of is there more to it? ( funny question I know but I like to get a scale of things)

Sorry if these sound like really stupid questions but most games like this I have played tend to lay this out for you when you start... eve seems a bit more complex.

Thanks in advance!
1. There is no real endgame to Eve. Its all about amassing power and wealth but most of all, doing what you want to do! You can rise to become the head of a Corp, or run an Alliance etc, or just make yourself a nice trading god. Its completely up to you!

2. You can also buy and sell on Contracts. The contracts tab is one the toolbar on the left of your screen. I can't remember the icon off the top of my head, think its a handshake?

3. I use different ships for different things. I have a battlecruiser for missions, an industrial ship for hauling, a mining barge (27 days for a hulk frown ), a few frigates, another battlecruiser whichi I mined in but don't really use now, a cruiser which i don't do much in yet etc etc. I am after a Hulk exhumer though and am not too far away from training up for a battleship. Ships tend to have certain purposes.

4. Just click on the map icon on the left toolbar. This will show you the scale of Eve's universe. Its bloody massive! At the moment you need to be avoiding 0.5 sec and below systems (or is that <0.5 systems??) as you may be shot in them. You should have learned how to fly to different systems now so why not bookmark your current home base and take a look.

By the way, if you can, get yourself into a nice corp too.

Speaking of Corps, I may be on the lookout again soon as my current one isn't doing much at all!!

Hope this helps!

If you want PvP, http://www.masuataa.co.uk/ are recruiting, the alliance is at http://www.ushrakhan.com/alliance/index.php if you're not Minmatar.

Plenty of excitement.

Thanks Tonsko.

I am enjoying a bit of mining/mission running/industry (all at a minor level!) and want to dabble a bit in PVP, but retain my industry links. I currently reside in Yuzier and don't want to move all my stuff too far. I have loads of BPO's etc, again all minor stuff but to me its big stuff lol.

I shall have a scout of the webby you gave me and see if there is anything close to Yuzier.

Thanks again!

Well, the sleepers inside 0.0 wormholes are hard as fk. Some of our BS pilots were reporting wrecking hits of around 2000 damage. They cross-rep, they switch targets to the one causing them the most damage, they can scram and web from 30K, they have insane resists (a full medium A/C (x4 in group) salvo loaded with PP ammo caused about 100 damage to them at 1.5K), and they keep coming! Once you start taking out the sleepers, you get another type called 'Awakened', who are effectively reinforcements, and they are even more aggressive. If you hang 130K+ off them and try to snipe, they will come after you! If they get too damaged, they run off and get repaired! We eventually cleared a plex, but it took a fleet of 11 that had at least 3 logi ships over an hour to clear one of 'em.

Even the frigates are tough - this is almost like PvP!
Right. Corp change for me I think.

It sounds like this update is great fun, and I haven't patched my version up yet (not been on for over a week!!).

Should soon be able to fly an exhumer then I'm re-directing my training at covert ops. I wanna go and see what these places are like, with a certain element of safety (i think!!) lol.!

Wormholes are hilarious:

- no local, so you can't see if anyone else is in there
- make sure you bookmark the wormhole in as if you don't, you need to probe it out again
- there are so many probeable items inside the wormhole space it is difficult to probe stuff out
- the wormhole can collapse at any time, meaning you have to find another wormhole out
- other connecting wormholes can go to wormhole space or regular space anywhere on the map
- if the wormhole goes back to regular space it could be 80 jumps from where you started, and if it's in 0.0 alliance space, is probably camped with a gang waiting to kill you

Oh, also the rats are intelligent, focus fire, switch targets and are powerful enough to kill capital ships.

Have fun!
I think i'll be avoiding them until I get my corp sorted then!

Or until I can fly covert ops! If that helps.

Sorry to say local does work in wormhole space but only displays the people who have actually said anything...

I've been playing with the new scanning interface a little since last night, have to say its soo much better than before.

Scanned down a wormhole last night and jumped through for a wee shifty. (in a cormorant so prolly not my smartest ship choice, still a few weeks away from covert ops)

- lesson number 1 ALWAYS BOOKMARK THE ENTRY POINT (saw a few pilots in local begging for someone to help them find a way out, invited them to a group chat arranged a price and fleeted them, they warped to me and boom 250mil isk for my troubles smile

Only started my account in January so still a new player but loving the new expansion

From what our corp have learned about the sleepers so far:

- They f'king hurt... They swap damage types alot
- they omni tank so agree before engagement so each pilot is firing a different damage type.
- Watch out for the scrams, webbers and general nastyness they do
- they work as a team, so treat it more like a pvp engagement and not a computer controlled char.

PLUG - If anyones looking for a freindly chilled laid back corp of mission, exploration, mining, industry and occasional PVP corp drop into nemesis theory public for a chat.

Thought i'd post an update, and resurrect this topic.

I'm now in a corp that is only 3 jumps away from 0.0 space, and since I got my covert ops/stealth bomber up and running i've started venturing into 0.0 space! I've been sneaking in under the cloak and roaming around lol, but it is v scary for a noob!

On the corp front i'm on most weekends doing big mining ops (about 20 odd peeps in the fleet) and it's becoming more enjoyable. The corp is hoping to expand into 0.0 soon, maybe with a link-up to a big low-sec alliance.

My corp had some fun early Monday morning (most of them are USA based so the ops are late) after I left the op. Apparently a can flipper came along, flipped a can, some of my corp retaliated in their mining vessles (duh lol) and they ended up losing an Orca! Ouch! Total value lost was around 1bil isk! If you go on battleclinic killboard and search for Nelios Ran's (one of my corp leaders) losses, you'll see the damage that was caused!

This has spawned some activity regarding PvP training and more talk of learning to defend ourselves, that's when the excitement begins i'll bet! The alliance/corp that mullered the Orca have been set as enemies now lol.

Talking of can flipping, there has been a lot of it going on lately. Anybody else been victim to it?

Anyway, I now live in Ashi and my local 0.0 is owned by Goonswarm lol! If anybody is around say hello, i'll de-cloak and wave back!!

Speaking of stealth bombers etc, I have mine setup so that I can fully utilise the torpedoes when my skills allow it (tomorrow night, yippee!), but i've seen a lot of negativity about them? I have also heard that you can get the skills right so that you can uncloak, fire off a barrage, and then re-cloak? Is this true? Or do you have to wait until the torps hit before cloaking again?

The negativity I have heard is along the lines of 'lack of armour' etc, so one shot and you are popped! However, I can lock onto small ships within 2 seconds from 88km away with certain modules (without scripts its 138km), does this distance help? I thought that beign so far away would be a good advantage?

Also, torpedoes, can they travel this distance with the stealth bomber bonuses?

Cheers all!

Yes they do, the bonuses have been changed. You can get crazy damage with stealth bombers now, as long as you are shooting at large targets.

Bombers are very fragile, so you are very vulnerable despite the large amount of damage you can do. They work best in gangs with some ewar support, where you have enough numbers to destroy the target before it is able to retaliate. If you are trying to use it solo, you might find it pretty ineffective because they don't do enough damage to small targets to kill them straight away, and large targets can warp away unless you have them tackled, which would probably result in you dying to drones.
Okey dokey, so any thoughts of doing some crazy solo pvp have now gone out of the window then. I have fitted something to my ship though that apparently stops the targetted ship realising I am targeting it? If that makes sense lol? Can't remember what the thing was called.

I noticed that the Apocrypha patch did indeed change stealth bomber bonuses from cruise missiles to torps, probably more effective. They also take over 95% off the needs of siege launchers to be applied, as you mentioned above.

I had thoughts of hiding away in 0.0 then de-cloaking and blowing the st out of the baddies lol. Guess that ain't gonna happen now.

Could be good mining op support against can flippers though??

Can flipping seems to be the new craze on Eve now. Whilst out mining last night, some of my corp mates fell victim to a flipper from the alliance who shot our Orca up at the weekend lol. I got some harrassment as well as one of them appeared in my belt later on, his drones were out and he started nudging me.

Then came the smack talk in local, which, I must admit I quite wrongly retaliated to (a bit). It seems this alliance or corp (Blade) seems to pride itself on can flipping. The chap was flashing red but I didn't really have anything to shoot him with lol, only a Myrmidon with basic drone and shooty skills!

When I get home tonight I can equip my stealth bomber with torpedoes. Going to head out and see if I can do any damage with them lol!
