Eve online - nnnnoooooooooooooooo!!
Discussion
I must have logged in on the wrong evenings, I missed all the fun! Any evening I logged in with my PH toon, we were confined to the home station with a shedload of campers outside.
So after watching a bunch of fuzzy YT tutorials, and getting very confused, and killed a few times, I decided it was all too complicated for me for now, and I rolled an alt for hauling, did a bunch of missions and made a few quid that way instead.
Also, Rookie channel is a never-ending source of entertainment, I'm on there most evenings (Arthur Dentz)

Hordes staging is oka for the war, head there, sounds like you are in a2 the defense staging, don't worry about ships as a new player, you will be supplied with ewar frigs/tackle frigs/destroyers/logi frigs, on going at no or little cost.So after watching a bunch of fuzzy YT tutorials, and getting very confused, and killed a few times, I decided it was all too complicated for me for now, and I rolled an alt for hauling, did a bunch of missions and made a few quid that way instead.

See reading this kind of thing gets me excited. I love that these kinds of wars seem to spontaneously happen.https://www.reddit.com/r/Eve/comments/4cdmmc/wtf_i...
Then I remember that when I tried EVE for a while, the game was dry and boring (Excel in space is right) and the barrier to entry for noobies is ABSURDLY high and I loose interest again.

Over the last few years they have significantly changed the barrier to entry, skill points these days after the initial 60days are more about adding diversity than about competitiveness. Then I remember that when I tried EVE for a while, the game was dry and boring (Excel in space is right) and the barrier to entry for noobies is ABSURDLY high and I loose interest again.
They made huge changes to frigates & destroyers to make the game more inclusive for new players.
PH regularly run destroyer fleets and the big fleets with larger ships have an ewar wing of frigates. You can be in a fleet fight within a couple of hours of playing the game.
Its worth having a watch of eveiseasy on you tube he does, videos of trial character pvp etc.

Ahh that's good to know, I've not tried it for about 18months so may give it another go.They made huge changes to frigates & destroyers to make the game more inclusive for new players.

Wish I'd done it a few weeks ago as I had an offer of a month's play for about 3 quid.
Been thinking about my time in Eve, much as I like Wingspan its a bit too slow paced for the 2-3 hours I have a night for it.
That and I have decided that I really like PVP and that's basically it. Ideally non-consensual. The most fun I have had with WS is cloaky gate camps. Great laugh. So thats what I want to do more of.
So other than signing up with PH and diving into the big war, anyone know of any low sec/null sec ganking/roam corps?
What about Merc corps? How does that work for the guys on the ground (in space?)
Thoughts?

Have a look at Dark-Rising. Currently in Minmatar FW for easy access PVP and income for part one of our long-term plan:That and I have decided that I really like PVP and that's basically it. Also currently doing Inty roams into the war-zone to relieve The Imperium of their ratters and we always have plenty of BLOPS work with some decent cyno-hunters out most of the time.
Also, our CEO just made this little ball of fun for Mittens: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URjoIGB-0Cg
