If nobody minds me asking, what sort of ship makes a good ratter and salvager? Would be fun to go into the low sec systems near me, shoot up some rats and salvage the goodies. smile

I was thinking of a battleship, but reading around it looks like a battlecruiser or a destroyer could be useful too.

Thanks.

Edited to add - would it be better to have one of my accounts in the killer ship and another in a salvager?

Sure, I'm in system ....

wink

I'm fully aware of the dangers of ratting in 0.3. However, I was in there the other day and local was empty. smile

Thanks for the advice all.

Didn't get long on Eve over the weekend in the end. Should have more time tonight.

This.

I shouldn't laugh. I learned an important lesson this weekend. I just started a hauler alt, over the weekend they made about 25mill just afk shuttling things back and forth in a mammoth whist I did a bit of pew pew with the Senex guys. Great corp btw, get involved if you havent already.

Then I went to bed leaving my alt hauling a 20 jump trip from Jita to somewhere... hi sec all the way, it wont be an issue.

Checked up on it whilst on the way out the door this morning.

I made it to the drop off station. However my mammoth and the freight I was carrying did not. So after failing the contract and handing over the collateral(130mill) starting an alt has cost me 105mill isk before I replace my hauler.

Damn it.

Still, it was kind of them to let my pod fly on untroubled. Just goes to show that some people will gank you for less than 50mill of modules. Or even just to teach you a lesson.

smile
If you don't mind me asking, did you pick up the hauling jobs from contract?

Also, can you play an alt and the main character at the same time in the game?

Thanks.

Thanks Wrecked.

I do have two accounts, just never bothered with an alt and didn't know if you could run one at the same time.

I can fly pretty much every sort of transport ship. I've just invested in an Itty 5 and a Miasmos (for hauling my mined ore).

I'll take a look at the contracts. I heard a while ago that some are traps and some will send you to null sec etc. So, I'll be careful.

Thanks again. smile

On the launcher, there is a switch accounts option. If you log in as account one let the client open etc, then go back to the launcher and log into the other account you should have two client windows open, and away you go.

You could always do the mining and hauling gig. One alt mines and jetcans, the other hauls it away.

This game is eating my life again...
Do that now (but thanks for the tip) smile.

One mines and one halls.

Never utilised an alt though. Could be worth doing as they could specialise in something different (i.e. one could be a very naughty pirate). smile

Speaking of missions, I need to get back into these.

When I originally setup my accounts, I never bothered with missions as I was more interested in other activities. This means I have two multiple year old accounts that can only fly level 1, I think. smile

I guess I need to get back to my 'roots' and run some missions to get the levels up.

I did notice that CCP seem to have made the agent finding process better now. I checked the other day and the agents I need are about 20 odd jumps away. May be worth packing some things and heading that way.

In answer to your other question there is the contracts tab in the neocon.
If you open it up and click on the avalible contracts tab you will see dozens of contracts from players needing things shifted about.

Be aware though, some will be too large for you cargo hold and some will require too much collateral to garrentee their safe arrival.

Some might require you to drop off in low or null, which you are not going to want to do.

And that is before we get to the deliberate traps. People sending you on very dodgy routes to deliver a shuttle, after taking a couple of billion in collateral etc.

So you do have to be careful.

And don't AFK haul. Or rather don't go to bed and leave it on.

There are also delivery missions from NPC corps/agents, which if you can get up to level 4 can be very profitable. I'm thinking about having a look at them.
Took a look at the contracts tab last night. There are some that you can make a few million on, but none worth the time that don't take you through low sec. Also, there are very few within 15 jumps of me that I can fit in my cargo hold at the moment. A specced blockade runner is required, I think. That would make it fun. smile

Anyway, I ended up spending an hour or so mining. Had a few internet drops, which was a pain, but enjoying the modulated strip miner II with the correct crystals. I cleared a belt of Pyroxeres (sp?) in around an hour. At the moment, I'm just mining to get materials for my blueprint builds (will have production efficiency to level 5 in a day or so).

The blockade running looks interesting though. smile

DY- is a system in Immensea.

Slowcats are spider tanked, sentry drone carriers (usually Archons). Possibly the most overpowered thing in the game at this point in time. All the fleet does is assign their 10 sentry drones to a ship with a fast locking time and sit there occasionally switching reps while the drone bunny does all the work.

N3(dotte) dropped at least 40 Titans plus a whole bunch of supercarriers on the CFC/Rus dreads, Doomsdayed a few and then the node crashed leaving the fight about even in terms of losses. It could have been a lot more interesting (possible Titan kills) if it had been on a reinforced node.

The sheer amount of "Grrr Goons" tinfoil hattery, in regards to the crash, on Eve-o is beautiful. There are even High-Sec miner gankers getting involved!
It crashed the node? Blimey!

Sounds like fun. smile

I could explain it but I'm at work at the moment and The Mittani.com's article about it sums the whole clusterfk up a lot better...

It probably doesn't help that that's the second one we've lost this year (the first one was in J5A- in Fountain). No-one ever said Goons were good at Eve. In fact we're terribad!

Needless to say that that director will be sent to the furthest away gulag and worked to death fitting endless newbie frigates for incompetence and dis-service to the great Space-Communist Empire of Goonswarm.
That's a big loss. Are you in Goonswarm then?

Thanks for the explanation.

So, if I have this right, you have an Archon with 10 sentry drones. I sends the drones out and you use another (fast locking) ship to target the enemy. The drones then turn them into mush.

Also, what are reps?

Thanks.

That fight was fun, They were trying to camp one of the FC's Battleships into a station, seems they forgot to watch for his friends.
In fairness, they had a pretty nasty gang, assault frigates, supported by logi, with sabres and interceptors are pretty nasty.
That said, they couldnt use the logi, as my Celestis was damping the crap out of them, then they were unable to land reps as we attacked them, so they went down pretty quickly to our dashing tactics and amazing shipmanship smile

I watched some of the cap battle from last night, its a real shame that nodes crash, but I dont know how CCP can win here, the fights will only get larger and larger to fill what can be used, until it crashes again.
Its a damn shame.

It does mark an interesting change in the war though, if CFC intend to bring sniper dreads everytime to counter the slowcat fleet (and it appears they will) then they will be forced to escalate everytime with Titans.

I suspect it will come down to who has the deeper pockets, regardless of how big an alliance is, dreads, titans and carriers are not cheap to replace.

Speaking of caps, we so nearly caught our current targets dreads on field the other night, they were so last second getting sabres to stop our HIC on a gate, had he gone in through a different gate, chances are we would have ganked 3 of them.
Unsurprisingly, they then pulled out 2 supers the next day, regular as clockwork.
Are the battles recorded anywhere for further viewing?

Ta.

Nice work!

Tonsko - I know your feels, Ive been on the wrong end of that brand of pain, in fact, I made up my mind this morning, once my alt is trained into Domi, hes going to immediately train up into a Falcon.
Is this a good explanation of how the aggression flags work? Trying to get my head around it. Thanks. smile

I darednt do any solo roaming, but I have seen guys do well in the Stabber fleet is due, as well as the Deimos being pretty nasty
Unfortunately, most 'solo' guys around our way, nhave an alt in a recon ship just waiting to save them.
Don't I know it!
How does that work if they have an alt? I thought you couldn't run a main char and an alt at the same time?

Thanks. smile

Thats not bad, the table at the bottom is pretty helpful. The biggest ones in nullsec are being unable to jump through a stargate, or being unable to dock. Thats what gets people killed.

Reading the posts above, it definitely sounds more fun roaming around low and null sec. smile

I'll need to seriously consider getting into one of the corps mentioned in this thread.

Another question about smartbombs. Ok to use in null and lowsec? Not advisable in high sec? Obviously, you need to make sure you don't hit any innocent party, but never a problem in nullsec. smile
