Trying to get my old Raid team together to tackle ToT, although im
not sure how well we will do considering we struggled getting past Warlord Zon'ozz for
an embarrassing amount of time in Dragon Soul. Saying that we didnt have much problems with the
rest of the raid after getting that down to a tee.

Yeah Horridon has been nerfed. The thing with 10-man guilds though, is that you run 10-man raids because you don't have more people to swap around, and so bring different features to a fight. So in out case we have mostly ranged DPS and classes who can only single dispell. Which is a bugger.

Nagrand is getting stupidly quiet now though, seriously thinking about rolling a new toon on a busier realm.

£15 a time, that's 60 quid for my 4 toons. Ouch.

I reactivated my account with a free trial the other day.

Always get nostalgic running through the old zones!

However, what the hell have the they done to the talent system? Why on earth would you change that?

Basically because everyone went for exactly the same talents. Even though there are far fewer options now, there is at least a realistic choice.

So I've just started playing WoW. Late to the party somewhat, I know! I have particularly avoided it until now as I feared I would get too addicted!

Anyway, I've put a couple of hours in and I appear to be a Level 8 Rogue. Not sure if that's good or not! I think I need to spend a bit more time learning about the game as I'm currently just running around doing 'messenger' missions.

Am I right in saying that it's a subscription-based game too? £8 a month?

It is subscription, but you can play up to level 20 for free on a trial account. The "real" game doesn't really unlock until you get to maximum level (90) and you start raiding. Up to that point it can feel like a hard grind. I can't remember what level 5-man dungeons unlock, but I found running those to be more entertaining than just doing solo questing. Press 'I' and if dungeons are available it will allow you to queue for them.

www.icy-veins.com is a good place to look for advice on how to play your character. Don't forget to pick up a couple of professions. I would advise that you join a guild too, that way you can get support and advice. Maybe get an experienced rogue to look over your gear and so on.

15 to queue - you get Deadmines, RFC, WC and SFK at the start.

Enjoy, you only get to level up once for the first time, and then it is never the same.. Nothing, no other game comes close to the leveling up (enjoyment of exploring the world) for the first time. It is truly a well crafted world. I now Envy you.

Don't worry about things you do not understand, its doesn't matter, just level up and have fun and work out all the other stuff later..

Well put Joe. Most of us long-term players are infected with the level-cap disease. There's a lot of scenery and awesome story in teh game below level 85 and the Pandaria story only really makes sense if you've some inkling of what came before.

Sadly with the reduced XP-to-level you can't really see the story properly at the appropriate level but it's well worth a new player taking their time.

I can't help but look at Zad's view and be a bit sad as it's missing out a huge amount of the point for a new player.

This. The levelling up aspect can be a bit grindy at times, but the world itself is utterly immense. I used to love exploring with my brother and hopefully happening across a few alliance to battle in the process. Once you've gone through it all and reached 90, I really just felt a bit 'meh' about the whole thing. I'm not hardcore enough to start raiding and all that so as a result, I've cancelled my subscription.

I went back to playing this a while back due to the friend time + scroll of resurrection etc. Problem was on the servers I was going on there were literally less than 50 people on the 'high populated' servers.

The major cities were all dead, I presumed the game has finished it's course and not many people play anymore so didn't bother continuing. I remember the times of being in an AH with literally thousands, yet I was stood there alone biggrin

Thread resurrection!

Anybody still playing?
Really enjoying the new patch, Timeless isle is fun, doesn't feel like a daily grind.
New raid looks and feels great so far, not as much stupid trash as ToT (which took the shine off an otherwise awesome raid), bosses are nicely tuned, first 2 went down with a little practise, 3rd one is challenging but fun.
Flex raid is allowing us to gear up a few returning raiders too...
All in all, thoroughly enjoying SoO

Timeless isle is fun, yes. Not liking the shaohau (or whatever) rep grind though frown
