R34 GTR was a free car to download I think? TDU1 over TDU2! Sold TDU2 as I didn't like it but still play TDU1 all the time!

Is this any good on PC? I notice it's £3.74 on steam at the moment.
It's got a fair meta-critic rating and NFS World is rife with cheating so I need another casual racing game. I did enjoy the first one.

Dunno. Servers gone anyway now.

For TDU 2, it seems they've removed the second update from xbox live now as well.

Don't know about PC, but I'd go for it at 3.74 for certain...

It's annoying. I can't go into a house because it freezes. When I load up the game it tells me to go back to the dashboard and do an update that I've already done. Worst of all is the stupid annoying AI that you can't turn off that just crash into you for no reason.

On the plus side, I've now covered 15,000 miles in my Bugatti Grand Sport biggrin

What the hell is with this update? It makes the steering feel like sponge and you HAVE to have it otherwise you can't play the game confused

They really know how to make a game unbearable.

Yeah, brilliant concept ruined by implementation. Which is a shame sinse it does the whole open world, open road just driving thing so much better than Horizon. Which was just an oversteering mess.

I know I make that complaint about Forza motorsport as well, but Horizion really was an oversteering mess. And expensive since I bought it on release...

Actually I thought handling wise it excellent, much more natural than TDU1 (let alone TDU2).

Downside was the world was a bit small and dead. More so the fact it wasn't really MMORPGthingy like TDU series, and to play with other people online you had to sacrifice AI traffic. I had thoughts of speeding down the highways Wangan night style - still do that occasionally, but the short highway and very fast day/night cycle kills it.

Yep I bought it new too. And bought a gold membership which I've hardly used irked Don't see the point paying for Xbox Live now if they can just switch stuff off like that.

We just need a company to stick TDU, Horizon and Most Wanted together. They're all good and bad games in some areas. Just need a good balance for something great.
And NFS World is just rubbish.

I found TDU 1 quite good. More difficult certainly with the handling, but it had that sense of just going out for a drive/ride so much better.

Which is really what matters with this sort of game...

I think a big part of TDU1 was it's originality - great fun exploring with a few mates and dicking around.

As for anything happening on TDU2, don't hold your breath - Atari went bust, Eden offloaded and liquidated, not much they can do until someone else is stupid enough to float them a line of credit before their next bankruptcy, and even then TDU will be a distant memory.

Honestly, I wish Rockstar would pick up the rights and develop it, but I suppose they've better things to be getting on with.

And there appears to be a new update to TDU2 out now, which offers benefits to force feedback and stickers.

Had a go at firing up TDU 1 hardcore mode yesterday. It was brilliant fun. What seemed to make it great was a a combination of many things that overpower the many many mediocre (and just downright st) aspects. For one the traffic travels at about 60mph rather than 35 as in horizon, and overall there is an excellent sensation of speed. Little things make it exciting; the way you need to start up the cars, putting the windows down to change the noise, the way powerful cars spin up and fire sideways on full throttle in second, and of course dealerships and houses. Scenery might not have the detail of Horizon but it cleans up in terms of sheer scale. It also has significantly more entertaining roads - horizon is more open and freeway based, no good mountain passes frown

Still gutted that TDU 2 had such awful handling, I cant bring myself to enjoy it all.

TDU1 in sim mode was the closest thing to perfection for that whole kinda genre imo.

The only thing letting it down was the low-poly roads which could make driving a bit too hard in sim mode on the hillier parts.

An excellent excellent game, way ahead of it's time... it's kinda funny how a recipe that was so good could actually be WORSE with a second release in so many ways.

It's a bit like NFS4/5 too in my view. They look rather iffy now but the actual overall game experience hasn't been repeated since in the NFS series.

I honestly don't get why it's so hard. Even if you need to make the game a bit crap for some demographic, how hard is it to have a different 'mode' for people who want to play it a different way?

I've not played Forza Horizon but seen quite a few videos and it just looks like NFS HP3 without the cops, and with straighter roads. Hmmmm...

Horizon does have a great handling model and though its a bit pricy, is a must play for anyone who likes fast cars and open roads.

Well it's OK. I've not been able to get online, I had a beta account that I can't unlock for some reason and they won't send email to my 2nd address so it's offline only for now.

It's a very obvious console port, controls are inconsistent and it took ages to find how to get it full screen (alt-enter). Long pointless cut scenes, twitchy handling. Too much emphasis on the social elements, the looks of the car, your looks, hair clothes etc. It looks quite nice but it's nothing special. Some events are stupidly easy and some virtually impossible

I'd probably give it more time if I was online but 5hours in and I'm not gripped enough to want to play any more.

Hi I'm Adrian and i'm a TDU1 addict... well until they castrated the servers that is.
I have a contact at Ubisoft and have poked him to get the eden team onboard and sort out the lack of free roam driving games on the market.
An update to the TDU1 physics engine rather than the NFS clone in TDU2, better graphics and 'europe' as a game arena. MMO has come on in leaps since TDU and I am sure there is a long term market for a decent driving experience which had the variety and quality of TDU.
IF anything comes of it I'll post back, I can but hope he'll listen. TDU still has a fanbase 7 years after the release date and I am sure there are possibilities with more up to date tech.

If anyone wants the TDU 1 patch to 1.67, the DLC cars and the winter mod for hawaii I might be able to find the ISO files so they can be installed on a PC. No help to you Xbox users I know, sorry.
I liked doing the winter mod with all the snow and pine trees in an escort cosworth....
Couldn't resist reposting these even if it's the wrong version of the game... sorry.

For all of you who miss TDU1...
