My 8 year old wants me to buy and download Minecraft, I see it is currently £17.95. My 14 year old is insisting this is a monthly subscription but I cannot find anywhere on the website that says it's a one off cost or monthly subscription.

Also is this game suitable for an 8 year old??

I'm not into games on pc's so am clueless...

One off cost of £17.95. Keep your payment receipt email as the transaction code will be needed to verify you are the owner of the account should you lose your credentials, or as in my case, they suddenly stop working without explanation when you know your username and password are correct.

But I digress.. yes, it's a perfectly acceptable game for an 8yr old and even younger. The game is basically a sandbox environment and it's up to the individual to use their own imagination and creativity when playing. Unfortunately I don't think an 8 yr old would be suitable to play on our multiplayer server as we're mostly in the age range of 20s-40s so I'd recommend they stick to the single player mode, or maybe a LAN party if you have other Minecraft players in your household.

FYI, I removed a section of fence in the ender farm, when straffing from side to side i was still getting damage, something must of changed for enderman behaviour since 1.8, but i cant see anything in the notes, just the path finding.
I removed the fence so you can stand in the corner and work on one end of the farm, it allows you to get out again without taking damage.

It doesnt affect operation at all.

im up for helping WC, but at work so i havent actually watched the vid yet.

I plan to do that at my base. There is an unspawned ocean monument there as I recreated the world seed in a 1.8 world and it's there in 1.8. As there's no actual structure in our world, it is the perfect place to build a guardian farm as there is no monument to remove. All I need is a crap load of sponges to get rid of the water and the area dividing into segments like in Xisuma's clear out video a few weeks back so that the sponges will be effective (they don't work if the area is too big as the water just recreates itself).

I made a start on one of the outer walls of where the farm boundary will be using light blue glass, but I've run out of the blue flowers you get in swampland to make more and also the guardians were knacking me. You need to use 8 min invisibility potions when near them and they'll leave you alone.

Had a busy week work wise along with some courses to do through the day so not had chance to get on this week. Will be on Thurs night and over weekend. More interested in villager breeding for goodies at the moment though. Already got a glowstone and zombie flesh villager on a good trade which is perfect for my mob farm! spin

This is driving me bonkers.

Made a Mojang account and did the email verify. I log in and go to purchase Minecraft for pc and I end up in an eternal circle of logging into my mojang account but it never moves on the actually allow me to purchase the game.

What am I doing wrong???

Hi solo, I'm not sure exactly the problem your having. But you don't really buy the game, you buy an account. You can download the game free, but can't play it without an account. Make sense?

Download the game, log on on the launcher then you should be able to play.

Guys, I saw that beacon beams change colour depending on any stained glass placed above them. As the hole is already there, reakon we can have a beam, then coloured glass on sticky pistons with a timer so the light will change random colours?

What you reakon? A tricky build but I'm ok with redstone so I could work it out.

That nob Xisuma did one in his recent vids but the block swapper thing doesn't work like you'd think and you get a beam of white in between every change which looks gay.

What if you put a different colour on top before changing the bottom one, if that makes sense?

Has anyone got a decent spider dungeon set up? I've got a fletcher villager with the cheapest string deal, 15 string for an emerald. My mob farm doesn't do spiders because it's only a 1 wide design and spiders are 2x2 of course.

I've also now got an armourer villager who has a good trade, 17 emeralds for an unbreaking 3 diamond chest armour. Price range for those is 16-19 so it's a good deal.

I've lost my original cleric villager who was doing a fantastic deal of 36 zombie flesh for 1 emerald (cheapest you can get) but I have a couple of new ones doing 37 instead so if you have a lot of zombie flesh you can soon build up a supply of emeralds. The clerics also sell 1-2 lapiz for an emerald, and 1-3 glowstone blocks for an emerald.

Also have a librarian doing the cheapest paper trade, 25 paper for an emerald, butchers doing 14 raw chicken for an emerald, farmers doing 8 pumpkins for an emerald, all of which are renewable if you build farms. I have other farmers but their trades aren't as good and am using them in my auto-breeder til I get more.

Not managed to get any really nice book enchant offers from the librarians yet. I had one doing protection 4 books but I've lost him somewhere! grumpy

Currently setting them up in enclosures down in the basement at my island base (down the cobble stairs in the middle of the island where the track is).

Edit: Found the protection 4 villager, 27 emeralds, which is a very good deal for a level 30 enchant.

Got a villager doing infinity 1 books for 7 emeralds. spin Also got one doing respiration 3 books which is notoriously hard to get on a helmet when using enchanting table. Same guy is doing name tags for 20 emeralds which is the cheapest you can get.

Just hope they don't start charging for updates now. Given Microsoft's history i doubt it frown.

On a side note, sorry I've not been on the server in a while, unfortunately some family stuffs popped up thats been draining my time, and been playing a bit of Destiny but hopefully get back on tomorrow.

I know it's "cool" to hate on the money making companies, but when has Microsoft charged for updates? For as long as I remember my old Xbox and all my windows pcs have all updated for free?
