I've set up a little water stream item collector at the quarry to deposit sand/sandstone. Tom and I have been collecting sand for the temporary walls in the fish farm. Added a couple of rows there too.

I have found another monument at one of the coords you mentioned. I have yet to explore it.

I have been busy last few days and my laptop fan finally packed up (was making 90deg playing minecaft without fan biggrin )

New fan arrived today so will fit tonight and then will have to test it, of course yes

Wondered where you guys had been as I've been on but not seen anyone. Make sure you give the case and nooks a good vacuuming as it's usually fluff and dust that causes laptops to overheat. Putting them on a solid surface and raising them up a bit helps with cooling too.

Hmm. I've finished the wither skeleton farm but it's a bit of a love:hate relationship irked . The piston slime sweepers are very unreliable and completely break if you leave the area or log out with them running as when you return they've gone out of sync and jam up. I'll openly admit to going in creative mode to reset them and troubleshoot as it's simply impossible to do it survival mode when you have 20 blazes stood next to you. The other problem is the FPS lag. With it running my FPS drops from 600 to 60 and I have a fairly beefy PC. I can well imagine it will simply be unworkable for players on lesser spec machines. frown I am going to look at other designs and will probably change it at some point. Still got quite a bit of terrain to slab over and found some caves under the lava where ZPM are spawning so need to slab all those too. At the moment I'd say the spawn rates are medium - managed 7 skulls in the space of 15 mins so it's not a complete failure. Wither skeletons and small magmas are manual kill, the others will be killed by the crusher. Blazes don't drop rods unless you kill them yourself.

Bit disappointed really as it took a lot of work to build. The other designs generally rely on a crapton of pistons to push them into a central drop and of course they suffer the FPS lag issue too.

It looked like a lot of work getting it done, so I hope it can be sorted.

We had the same issue with the blaze farm, I loved the minecart version but it kept breaking and was too unreliable. The new version works far better.

Will be on later today to finish clearing out the water in the guardian farm, lets hope we have no more 'sleeping with the fishes' smile

The redstone isn't the problem per se, it's just the game itself and how it handles redstone clocks which it isn't designed to do.

Area for Guardian farm is all cleared out now

All the stuff has been transported back to our place and is in our storage room

Help yourself to anything in there, especially the prismarine and prismarine bricks they are very decorative

There are shards and crystals in the chests under the stairs and also some lamps

ATJ what is the plan for the guardian farm, any links to vids?

I added you last time! You came on for 10 mins and then never to be seen again, like others in this thread! I'm not hosting and paying for a server for people just to have a look round when it suits them and not actually bother playing the game. If people want to do that there are thousands of public servers to peruse on minecraftforum.net.

Nice work chaps. I like this design towards 2nd half of the video but it's a good watch anyway as it explains guardian spawning criteria and some other interesting stuff. The droppers/dispensers aren't essential - they just act as an on/off switch essentially. It would be nice to have that option, but when you see how many are required I think you might pass... I can also say that placing and opening all those fence gates will be a real pain as you can't place fence gates without a block underneath them - same as pumpkins. If not using droppers/dispensers for the water, placing that isn't hard as it just requires some strategically placed ice blocks which you then break to create a lake and job done.

That has got to be one of the worse tutorial videos I have watched. The guy is all over the place making written corrections and not even building it in the order you would need to without creative mode. And don't get me started on commands I would rather see a time lapse for long representative parts or just show the pattern.

However I love the design and have started building it. We are slightly wider with our sea wall so have made it to the correct dims as the video (we have a bigger gap to the wall) I traded a load of glowstone for the main frame but am doing the inside out of glass.

ATJ I have borrowed a double chest full of dirt to make the temp floor for placing fence gates and also to make building the spawning layers easier, I will return it all when I have finished with it.

I have been down to the Wither Skelly farm and it seems to work well, need a way of getting in and out unless I missed it. Turning on and off is a good idea. Had lots of Wither skellys but not too many were keen on parting with their skulls smile

Been working all week but just popped on to see what the progress was as it was rather quiet here. I've finished the floor for the fence gates and started digging down but don't know how far without rewatching the video. He does mention in the video that the spawn rates are higher with a lid on it so they can't "see" the sky, but not sure if the light levels from the glowstone have something to do with it. Glowstone is classed as a transparent block which is even more confusing as that wouldn't "block" the sky. Perhaps need to rewatch it to fully understand the reasons for the lid.

The pistons have jammed again in the wither skel farm so am going to abandon that project for now 'til I can find a design that works reliably. I have 42 skulls if anyone wants to set up beacons.

We have finished all the fence gates and placed all the glass blocks in the spawning area just needs a lid and the water putting in then we can remove the dirt.

I have marked one corner to the drop level of 37 blocks, boy do we have some digging to do eek

will try and get back on again tomorrow and try and clear some of it out

Are you planning to install the on/off switch as per the video, ie. eleventy zillion dispensers?

I would suggest a different set up for your minecarts as the current contraption to go through the portal doesn't work and results in lost carts when travelling as a player which is highly annoying.

was going to do without on off switch just slab the top

the minecart through the portal set up was only temporary to help move all the stuff after we had finished draining the area of water. the intention was to take it down although with the amount of stuff we have to dig out to the catching platform we may need it a bit longer

There's an effy 3 villager selling them cheapest possible. Buy 4 of those and combine them to 1 effy 5 then buy an unbreaking 3 book for 11. That will be cheapest way XP wise to make a diamond effy 5. If you don't put fortune or silk touch on it, it should stay reasonably cheap to repair when it needs it (use another basic effy 3 pick from the villager to repair it). Obviously each time you repair it it becomes more expensive XP wise until you can't repair it anymore then you have to start over.
