The landscape auto-generation system is nothing new. But I finally gave in and bought this, a mate is getting it too for some MP fun.

It's now 2am and I've just spent the last 5 hours building my fortress to stop the nasties getting in, illuminating it while creating a mining system underneath and some secret entrances. The outer wall is up (I need a portcullis!) and I'm in the process of building my castle into the rockface. It's like Lego, and I'm re-living my childhood!

Struggling to find anything other than Iron ore though - is it a better success rate if you dig deeper? Or is it all random?

To me, this game looks boring to play, but enjoyable to watch! Jx23 has got some decent vids.

Weirdly I got to that stage..

I loved watching 'X' (David) play and the place he created was awesome, but I couldn't imagine wasting hours or days creating that sort of world without 'something more' for it. Loved watching the videos, but I think I'd tire of playing the game fairly quickly. I haven't bought it.

I got this last night, heres a tip:

Dont put something in the oven then think "I'll just have a quick 15 mins". 3 hours later you will smell something funny coming from the kitchen....

My fort is set into a mountain with a staircase running from cloud level that will run down to the bedrock. I've got a bridge that runs to a nearby mountain plateu that will be farmed and I am planning a cloud level swimming pool. Ive hit very little iron and no gold/redstone/diamond.

Ok. Got it working on the desktop pc. Not running perfectly by any means but still playable.

Quick question. What is so bad about generating a snow level? That is the first one I got hehe

Just heard people on youtube say "If it's a snow level I'm going to re start"?

The snow drops are huge so makes it difficult to see especially when capturing. It also likes to make the computer lag more (so again if you are capturing and running a snow level it is very processor heavy)

My computer doesn't like the snow levels it makes it all juddery.

It played a cruel trick on me last night. I had been digging a 2-across / 1-down staircase from a small hill into the ground for about 45 minutes. I swear it knew I was about to finish for the night and I broke through one of the side walls into a cavern with running water. Well it would have been rude not to investigate, especially as there were no monster sounds. It has only spawned a nice cluster of red stone and some iron in there! 10 minutes later I broke through into a big lava cavern with more red stone and diamond ... in the roof over the lava! So that was another hour or so lost patching over the lava, mining, and building a bridge so I could continue my staircase in a straight line. This game really brings out the OCD doesn't it. It turned out that the hard rock game floor was only about 10 blocks below there.

I think red stone can spawn anywhere, but it does seem quite a lot more common (or more correctly, less stupidly rare) in the 25% of rock just above the hard floor. I have only mined diamond twice, both times were pretty close to the floor, 10-15 blocks or so.

Multiplayer is fun!

Its good having a persistent world that people can drop in-and-out of. Me and a mate have set up a private server and its a laugh. Some bits don't work (can't use a furnace, carts don't work, invunerable baddies) but that aside, most of its cracking....far more fun than SP.

Anyone fancy setting up a permanent PH-land? wink

Ok. I think I'm going to get addicted to this. It really brings out the OCD in me. Always have to have level steps and floors etc.

Oh and jakeyboy. Get some more sections on youtube. I'm getting withdrawals from my morning ritual hehe

I started one, but a tunnel collapsed on me and I'm stuck. Apparently a patch is coming out in 3 months.

A mate has set up a MineCraft server at his work, it'll be running 24/7. Only us two on it, we're currently building our castle as I type tongue out

Anyway, its a private server and you're all welcome to join if you wish. Obvious rules apply, like respecting other people's constructions, etc. To avoid random noobers joining, I'm only allowing registered PH members to join - so if you want in, email me your PH username and your in-game name to

And I'll send you the server IP.

  • sigh* Managed to make a lovely "safe place" out of re-heated rock, with a nice glass ceiling and windows, wooden doors and a good staircase to the centre of the earth. Decided to venture out early in the morning without checking my roof, only for 2 creepers to catch me off guard and blow the front out of my stronghold. It's getting there, I had to hide in my lovely treehouse hehe for one night as I gather some more coal and sand to replace my windows with frown
