Does anyone take hunger damage after about 5 mins of standing still/AFK ? My hunger bar completely drains to empty when I'm idle, which should not happen according to the wiki. Anyone else? Mike?
With the hunger bar there's an invisible measurement for saturation level (Rate at which you hunger bar empties). While all food fills the hunger bar, some give better saturation than others. an example would be an apple against a pork chop. I've given a rough guide below, there will be errors as i'm trying to do this from my own experience.

Highest Saturation
Golden carrots / apples have the highest saturation levels.
Steaks / Porkchops and most cooked foods have the best levels of the common foods.
Remaining cooked foods (cooked potatoes, mushroom stew, pumpkin pie etc).
Bread
Carrots, Apples
Raw Potatoes, melons, Raw Meats.
Cake, Cookies and other treats
Lowest Saturation

I think milk and water can also add to your saturation level but not found anything to verify this. and I only know spider eyes have same level as cooked steak, don't know aobut zombie flesh etc.

Sorry for any foods i've forgotten about.

So high saturation = stay fed longer?

Yup - eat steaks and you won't have to eat as often compared to eating bread. And melon is so bad that you'll probably be eating constantly to keep up!

But what All That Jazz (AKA RIK1301 AKA Rob) is saying is that sometimes, when you're not running about and therefore expending energy, your hunger bar decreases anyway. When it shouldn't. I've had this happen twice now, both times when AFK and standing stock still. I started taking damage and shat myself thinking I was being attacked... (BTW I have 2 screens, so I can AFK and do something productive at the same time - although the something productive is usually reading PH...).

It has to be a glitch, and a kinda random bizarre one at that...

Just been completely fked over by lag.

Was caving, lighting up caves to up the rates of my X-Farm, when the game just hangs. 0FPS for maybe 20secs at a time, all the while skellys are merrily pinging away at me.. And super-lag like that is so disorientating that when I went back to try and find my stuff I had no idea where I'd been. Not helped at all by more major lag... rage

I very rarely rage quit, but this time was a full-on toys out the pram, dummy into orbit occasion. A whole bunch of top spec tools and weapons lost through gameplay mechanics, rather than the usual user error....

I guess you were under that desert? As mentioned before, I have no idea what is causing it but seems to be some sort of corruption. I'm open to suggestions...

I've no idea where I was because I was way too disorientated, but I think it could have been that general area. It was certainly behaving the same way as that bit of desert..

My son has gone from playing on an iPad to his laptop and wants to install the ICBM mod. Is there a dummies guide anywhere as all the info I can find appears really quite complicated?

I'm not tech savvy at all and he's 11 and scared of downloading something nasty - any advice please?

Server is still up and being paid for. Are you guys still playing? Feel free to "recruit" new players from elsewhere to join the fun if you wish. I'm taking a break and playing WoT at the moment but I'm keeping the Minecraft server up like I said I would so you don't lose any of your builds. Just checked the wiki and I can't believe that 1.8 still isn't released yet!

Hi,

Ive been playing Kerbal Space program and GTA V mostly lately, but KSP is starting to wear a little thin, so hope to get back in to Minecraft soon. I dont know any other Minecrafters apart from you PH'ers. My mrs says she wants to play it, but she dont have her own PC.

I played the demo version of this last night, with no add-ons installed etc.

I can see myself getting into it, but having read this thread it seems like i still need to get my head around lots and lots of stuff.

Can anyone recommend a minecraft noobs guide? I really have no idea where to start.

Hey Boosh, you could try 'X's adventures in minecraft'. It's from a good while ago, but the basics haven't changed much, and X gives a good commentary. It isn't really a tutorial, more a guy just exploring what the game can do, but it's a good watch!
