I've just tried it on the Gear VR. Although it is only the pocket version it is amazing to have it in VR. Your tools show up floating in mid air and the crafting menu and inventory show up floating in front of you. It really is mind blowing to experience. There is a real sense of claustrophobia when down a tunnel with creepers all over the place.

Sure. Why not. Sounds fun. Probably won't have enough time to commit to building more than a small wooden hut but one can try.

We need much more active server pop, that's what ultimately finishes them. No-one likes playing when you never see anyone else on as you've no-one to show off your cool stuff to . I've said before I don't mind funding the server hosting on an ongoing basis but I'm not paying for it to sit idle when everyone predictably gets bored and stops playing.

The gear vr is a head set that you put your phone into and it turns it into virtual reality. Minecraft runs in vr and is full 3d with head tracking. It is totally immersive and really adds to the game.


I'd be happy to contribute if we can get a good number on.

Hope I'm not derailing the thread, but just wanted to ask for recommendations of good private hosted servers for Minecraft. It'll be for my 11 year old son and his friends. Seems to be a bit of a status thing in school. Any recommendations? We're in the UK. Thanks!

Solution to that problem is to start your own, Terry! No danger of it shutting down then! Speak to Kevin at jestservers.com, he was who I used and provides a rock solid service. He doesn't list the package on his site but he'll do 2GB for $20 per month hosted on a European server.

Has anyone played the latest version since the way swords deal damage was changed? I'm either doing something wrong or the game has suddenly become quite challenging as mobs seem to require about 10 hits with a stone sword now before you can kill them . I have actually been outfoxed by a witch who I'm simply unable to kill with a stone sword as she keeps healing herself and I have to back off because of the poisoning. I'm not kidding, I've hit her at least 25 times and she's still alive! WTF! Even friendly mobs seem to take a lot of hits before they're dead unless you can crit them.

Server IP is 5.101.146.67:25565 running vanilla v1.10.2. Server is located in Coventry.

I've set spawn at 0,0. I've knocked up a quick wheat farm at the edge of the lake for food and there's a couple of chests, ovens and crafter in the little hidey hole which leads down to lava level. I've picked a spot to the NWW between the village and the mountains.

Scouting around there is snow and ice spikes about 1500 to the NE, mesa about 1500 to the NWW, desert 1500 due west with Savanna, and jungle a further 500 west from there. Spawn is on the edge of a roofed forest, plains, oak forest, birch forest and swamp area with taiga and mega taiga biomes nearly. That's pretty much all the biomes within close range so couldn't be much better.

Same rules apply as in the past, namely :

1. trees must have all log blocks removed so that the leave decay, ie. don't leave the logs that you can't reach from the ground because floating trees piss me off.
2. creeper explosion damage to be repaired using the correct blocks on developed land/structures.
3. no stealing other people's st unless already agreed/working on a project together.
4. ???
5. that's it!
