Is anyone playing on ios? I'm absolutely addicted to it. Just a shame there's not a straightforward way of paying for a top of the range tank.

I did that once on Redshire iirc when it had that ridge with decent cover to the right hand side of the map overlooking the cap.

In the end it was me vs not sure how many. They knew roughly where I was but couldn't get me.

If they had rushed it would have been all over but they just came one at a time and got slotted.

By the time I had run out of ammo the remainder didn't dare come out to play and all I could do was hide between a dead tank and a rock while their arty hurled round after round in hope of splash damage.

When the countdown to a draw had two seconds left, in game messaged them to say "You obviously haven't figured that I'm out of ammo. Oops." Rude replies from the peanut galleries followed.

It was only a tier II and III match I think.

He was literally behind a rock next to the base, so wasn't even using cover. That is why it was so funny. He popped out, shot someone, hid, popped out again etc.
Probably a T18 one-shotting them.

If ever you find yourself in a similar situation, the answer is to all rush together. However, a lot of people would rather lose and survive, than win and die.

The matchmaker trolling is the single most annoying thing about WoT. There are so many poor players that have made it all the way to tier 10 without learning the basics. It's dispiriting to know you have no chance of winning before the countdown even finishes. You can usually predict who will die first.

If you've got a premium account you end up playing when you don't really feel like it and it becomes more like a job than a game. I uninstalled my EU account 2-3 months ago because I'd just had enough of it too. I had a 55% win rate at the end. I wasn't in a clan and didn't platoon up much.

I'd created a new account on the US servers back in January, but only got round to playing it last week. I've only played the seven tier 1 tanks and it's quite fun actually. For some reason you don't care so much if you lose. The principals are the same and you even have auto-loaders.

I don't have the credits for any consumables or equipment yet, but I've got 3 Top Guns and Ace Tankers on 3 of the tanks so far.

Most people tend to skip past tier 1 as soon as they can because they're use to seeing progression to the next level as the norm for games. I know I did originally. I didn't even routinely carry repair kits etc until I got to tier 7.

If you've fallen out with the game, then I recommend playing low tier for a while at least. You don't 'need' a premium account, so just play when you feel like it.

BTW, if you've been playing the T62A Sport then once it's removed the XP will be transferred to the Soviet tier 1 tank, the MS-1, if you have one or not.

I don't understand this in lower tiers generally upto and including tier 6 you will break even.

If the individual is driving a tier 10 then I can understand that as the losses can be massive on a battle where you have lost and had the vehicle destroyed.

I know. It's very odd behaviour. Without wishing to sound arrogant, it still staggers me the number of games that I've turned just by making a flanking manoeuvre or leading a charge, all the whilst knowing that it's basically suicide. I often find that I'm top of the team in the scoring afterwards, just because I have actually made some positive influence.

I find the choice of maps for T1/2 utterly bizarre. The Province one for a start.

Province is the only unique map that tier 1s get. The rest is Himmelsdorf and Kampinovka.

You used to get it a fair bit with the tier 3 FCM French TD with a 400m unaided view range. I've had scout medals on that map with the FCM.

Then they secretly nerfed it by rigging the matchmaker to give it more tier 5 games.

I had about a dozen games in a T25 without a win last night. Some when I was rubbish and got killed stupidly. Others when I had killed 7 and we still conspired to lose....
Had a really weird match where our team killed all of the other team apart from one player. He camped near the enemy base and waited for our team to roll in.

Five tanks approached the base and the one enemy player killed all of them, one after another. It was utterly bizarre and very funny to watch.

smile
Had a game like that yesterday in Matilda, http://wotreplays.com/site/1006619#komarin-etx1-ma... 4 enemy tanks inc another Matilda on lowish health and a KV220 also on lowish health and 2 tier 3 tanks.
The last 2 that were the 3 tier could not penetrate me at all so ended up well for me.
Regarding many loses in a row, if I suss out that is the way it is going I change tanks and many times ends up the opposite where with that particular tank it will win most games, might have to change 3-4 tanks before this happens.
After 16 months playing I decided to download XVM and installed Quickybaby modpack, so far pleased and can see why people use it as it is mostly benefitial apart from the wining statistic before the battle which is usually wrong.

I think Province is a poor map for T1. No one has any range or gun accuracy. So you either trundle across the plain, with no cover. Or are funneled along the roads at the top, one at a time.

There is a way to turn that win statistic off, its just an edit to the xvm.cfg file, but i can't remember off the top of my head what. It's worth looking up, because that damned % is just a crock of #&@! most of the time. You can usually tell just by the distribution of the tanks and players what the result is going to be more accurately than that statistic.

The match making is the biggest issue though, right now. As long as it can deliver close games, win or lose, then its fine because those are the fun ones. It's when MM gives you streaks of easy wins, or worse total losses, that it can really drive you up the wall. The problem is it seems to be 1:3 in favour of the inbalanced games of late. It feels like it needs an extra characteristic thrown into the matchmaking weights, but how and what that would be I don't know. Perhaps someones overall win rate should also be in the mix right now. Nothing worse than being on either side of a battle when one team is full of 53%+ high game count players and the other team is lots of 47% newer players. It's neither teams fault, but usually only ends one way and is rarely a good battle.

If anyone saw Circon's stream last night (ooo-er missus etc) then that battle with the sole arty remaining on one team, with Circon in his arty on the other literally screaming at his own team to go scout for it as the time got very close to being done, well lets just say we've probably all been there. Extremely funny few minutes and just summed up, unfortunately, a sizeable portion of the games playerbase - unwilling to take risks to secure a win. Yet the game rewards them for a loss, so they don't really lose out much and eventually reach high tiers where it costs them, and everyone else, much more for their passiveness.

Had a guy last night lamenting his luck - was his 10th game in a row he had lost in his Hellcat. Yet he spent the whole time not 100m from the base, watching as his team got overwhelmed and then dieing for little useful effect when the remaining 4 enemies came along at the same time. Had he not been so 'scared' to be involved from the start then the result could well have been quite different, but as it was he got a reasonable amount of xp (for a loss) due to the damage he picked up at the end. Totally pointless damage as far as the result was concerned, but he was still fairly highly placed on the results.

My fully upgraded Cruiser 3 loves Province, just as I do. Regardless of the MM I can usually lead my team to a victory on that map and it's my favourite map in the game for that reason. Pity it rarely comes round at tier 2 though and instead it's Himmelsdorf and Winter Himmelsdorf time after time, both of which I absolutely hate.

I like Province too. I just got the Ace Tanker in the Vickers Mk 1 on that map, with a scout medal too. If my team hadn't been so damn passive they might actually have been able to win it instead of suck out for a draw.

The Vickers Mk 1 is a bit odd as it's the only tier 1 medium tank. It also has a 5 man crew, so it's a useful trainer for later medium tanks.

I like Province, it's a pretty map. As the only tank I play at these tiers is the Universal Carrier, I have a great time on Province, snipe snipe snipe.

My issue with province is, it's a seal clubbers paradise, compare a 50 or 75% noob players view range to a clubber with binocs, 300% crew skills and the map knowledge it's beyond a slight edge by far.

Everyone starts with 100% crew (at tier one at least) these days.

But yeah, I can't wait to afford some binoculars. I just got my Ace Tanker & Confederate with the LOLtraktor on this map. Quite a game it was too.

I've just bought another Grille, the SPG that made me give up on SPGs. Now I'm more knowledgeable about the game, I can see how a tank that can play up to tier 7, but has a tier 3 gun as stock could feel underpowered. Two direct hits in a match earlier though, and 159 damage! st the bed. Not.

But I'll stick it out, see if I can load some different ammo, as I notice the Grille has 3 ammo slots, one for the standard load round, one for the HEAT and one more, and then I'll just grind it until I can afford the proper gun for this thing.

QBs mod pack is pretty good and does most everything I want but like all mod packs it wasnt perfect for me. His face popping up every time 6th sense triggered was a bit irritating. He also uses efficiency rating to guage the skill level of other players. I personally prefer WN8 which QB admits himself is a better measure. He said he only uses efficiancy basically through force of habit and familiarity.

These quibbles are not deal breaking by any means for me but just a bit irksome. I decided to try Circonflexes mod pack instead. It does everything I want and uses WN8 not efficiency. Moreover it doesnt have any annoying 6th sense tinkering, juast the good old light bulb. Ofcourse it isnt perfect. It uses the purple colour blind mode colour scheme to mark enemy tanks where I prefer the traditional red. You can't even toggle it off as Circon has it configured through xvm rather than the ingame settings.

However, circon explains in his youtube instalation video how to turn off this feature as well as other stuff, so I was able to tweak his xvm to get all the settings just how I want them....perfect! cool
