Probably being stopped for you by one of your team, rather than you seeing them directly. Then they kill the person that was lighting them up for you and so they "vanish". Also, they may ahve camo skilled crew, or cammo net (funny how people all equip a cammo net and then complain about tanks they can't see... bet they're happy enough to be unseen themselves 
)It's not perfect but I find the balance of real v arcade close enough to keep playing (and playing and playing).

No-one knows eactly (or at least, I don't. Maybe it is out there somewhere.....)But you get a LOT more xp and cash being on the winning team.
Also, we're told that actually kiling the tank doesn't weight the XP - it's down to damage inflicted (whether it kills them or not), modified if they are higher (or lower?) tier than you.
If you get to 99% captured and then your team kills all opposition tanks before you hit 100, you get nothing for the 99% :grr:

Also had some very strange battles since the wipe. Seems some players are being very protective of their shiny premium tanks even though they have plenty of experience. One battle my Hetzer was blown away by a KV. Put two shots to in to it and retreated out of the bush down a hill. At the bottom of the hill there were two of the freebie M4's in bushes. KV comes trundling down the hill and I tracked it with an HE round. At this point I was expecting the M4's to advance and finish it off. Instead they just sat there while the KV finished me off. They didn't even fire a round at the KV while it was a sitting duck despite me calling for help.

Did think about this (and clan wars) but it looks like you need to be all playing at the same time (possibly with some proper comms between the players?) to even get into the same battle. Clan wars even worse with the suggestion that battles are booked in advance and fully scheduled.I think this is all aimed at teenage types because I don't know about the rest of you, but I've got a job and a family and a dog..... some nights I'm too tired to bother, some nights there's something good on the telly, sometimes I'm half way through a battle and the dog needs to go out/daughter's throwing up/wife wants a cuddle. I come back to smoking wreck, ho hum. I really enjoy WoT as a game.... that I can pick up and put down as I feel like - not as something I want to build my life around.

Something which has been complained about a lot on the forums. Most of it is actually down to map design rather than actual tank specs. The maps favor Russian tanks because they are relatively small (max 1000m x 1000 m) The 88mm on a Tiger would easily be able to engage tanks at 1500m and consistently hit the target.
