You get them randomly except your team will be full of spastics and not notice that there is anything different and you will lose. I would give it a week before playing again or you will get so frustrated.

This is a fair comment.
I've already told a few people to hit tab and read the line at the top.

I don't mind the new game modes - it adds something different and in the games I was in people weren't completely stupid. Of course you got the usual 'rush to a camping spot and stay there' crew who in attack mode battles are happy to sit still and wait for the enemy to come to them... I've had a decent mix of win and lose in the attack/defend games but I'll give it a week and the defenders will figure out how to defend the maps properly so the attackers will have a very hard time. For example on the map with the railway line on the embankment there are only 3 ways across the line so you just need a scout at each crossing and there isn't much the attackers can do, haven't lost this map defending yet.
Oh, and the Tier 3 French tank destroyer is tiny! It really is about the size of a Churchill's turret!

The tier 3 French td is actually quite good, unlike the tier 4 which is crap. In a one to one, my tier 4 got taken out by a 3 because a) 3 of my 4 shots missed and b) the one shot that did hit didn't do much damage. This was in a completely stock tier 4 though, so I can only hope it gets marginally better when I have upgraded a few things. So far it's 5 battles, 5 losses and 0 kills. I'm only following this branch of the tree because the tier 9 looks like it may be OK, but the tanks to get there don't look very good at all. It's going to be a long grind.

Have you guys seen the tier 8 French TD yet? It's great, it's absolutely bloody covered in guns Quite liking the new game modes, as I've had good games on them so far and it is a very nice feeling playing something differently. If you haven't noticed any changes to the game's mechanics yet, stay well out of the way of artillery, as high-explosive damage has been ramped up quite considerably.

Can't help but feel that the assault mode is heavily weighted in favour of the defenders. All they have to do is sit in cover and wait for the attackers to stick their noses out. And the attackers don't have the luxury of taking things steady, as the game time in assault mode has been reduced to 10 minutes.

There is no draw situation either, if neither team is wiped out or the base is not captured the defenders automatically win. But in a defence situation I guess that is correct.

I was thinking it's pretty well weighted in favour of the defenders, too, but I've also noticed it often takes them bloody ages to get themselves sorted out, and a Blitzkrieg approach can sometimes get you a win in five minutes flat. You also sometimes see "defenders" charging at you as if they want to come capture your non-existent base Suppose it doesn't matter too greatly even if it is biased towards the defenders, as you'll get each 50% of the time anyway.

That will probably only last for as long as some players don't realise how that particular mode works. I've heard tales of defenders sitting on the attackers spawn point asking 'where's the flag?'!

However, of about 40 games, I've been defending 3 times. This is cocking irritating, as only 3 of the attacks have been wins.

I think he attack/defend will take a bit for players to get what they need to do. Having said that I have seen more capping in normal games so I think it has helped people realise there are other ways to win thank kill all.
Having thought about it I think artillery has become overpowered. I have lost could of the number of one shot kills I have managed although they need to be direct hits.
I could do with some advice on two tanks.
Tiger 2, I am intending to upgrade tracks then turret rather than gun - good or bad idea? Seems to be a very weak turret for tier and the gun is fair and next one up is not a huge step.
Ferdinand, I intend to get the top gun before top engine on the grounds it needs to do far more damage at its tier and while cannot move around think this is he best option.

I was weighing this one up after I got one-shotted in my T20 by a GW Panther, which struck me as something new.. But now I think about it, you get hit directly by a 155mm cast-iron shell - especially as it's coming from above onto very soft armour - it's probably going to go through, and you will be completely and utterly f ked! Those shells are designed to shatter on impact and cause damage by exploding on the surface, but if one goes through you stand not the slightest chance. So it seems they've made artillery much more powerful, but I don't think that's necessarily overpowered, as I was getting bored of a £500 shell from my M41 only taking a fairly standard 250hp off a KV-1 every time I hit it. Now a good shot will wipe someone out, which I guess is what they're meant for!

Like he airfield although shame you cannot go into the aircraft hangers. Widepark gives a Stalingrad feel to me and seems to be quite good. Bought a KV1 today and on first impressions it is a great tank which is what I thought when playing against it. It does seem to confirm to me that the best tanks are the Russian ones.

About 1 in 4 games crash to desktop when I leave game after dying.
Lots of reports of this on American forum.
Just re-installing to see if it helps.

Happened to me a few times too. As long as it doesn't happen mid-game, I'm not going to worry about it too much.

You also sometimes see "defenders" charging at you as if they want to come capture your non-existent base I've seen a pretty even mix of wins for attackers and defenders, especially in the mid-tier battles where the view range is a bit less. It just needs one brave/stupid player (usually me :/ ) to roll forward taking the hits and hopefully lighting up the defenders for the tanks behind to shoot. It's the encounter games I'm not liking. It seems there are two tactics - 1) all charge cap, or 2) all charge enemy spawn. If everyone does one or the other it's fine, but when some do one tactic and some do the other, the team loses. Just seems a bit too random. McSam said: Suppose it doesn't matter too greatly even if it is biased towards the defenders, as you'll get each 50% of the time anyway. Fingers crossed players don't start going "we're on the attacking side, let's just suicide as we can't win".
