For the most part, defenders should win - assuming equal teams and BS factor, then in real life the defenders have a large natural advantage.

Has anyone else noticed that they play either attackers or defenders more?
I seem to be attacking more, but I've noticed it's fairly evenly balanced between attacking and defending in the lower tiers. In fact the other evening I had 4 as attacker, 1 as defender and the attackers always won! Including one game 15-0...

Yes, far more of the newer games now.

I don't actually mind unless our team totally balls things up. Was in a match where the tier 9 went artillery hunting allowing them to cap and another where they camped the hill then rushed when told to move. Lost both games.

They do make for a change in game play so I like them.

Hehehe got 11 kills in my Tertrach tonight smile

Had to ask the others for help though as I ran out of shells and they were all still camping.

I started playing WoT last Sunday (250 battles so far). Worked my way up to a PzIII at which point I was put in higher tier games and I kept getting my ass handed to me. This was beginning to grate but I'm a determined type and so I kept going. Now the PzIII is elited and I've equipped the 7.5cm so I get some decent damage and get some xp.

On Thursday evening I gave into temptation...I'd been thinking of splashing out on the Lowe but in the end I went 1/2 way and bought a KV5. The KV5 is a pretty good tank, it can take a power of damage (if you protect the weak spots) and it seems to get some favorable match-ups meaning that even with the below par gun it can deal some decent damage to opponents. There is a downside though; as I said the gun isn't great and so there are some tier 8 and 9 tanks against which it just can't do decent damage but I'm hoping that as I learn the game I can work around this.

Is there a Pistonheads clan in Wot?

Personally I've gone backwards, and for a week or so now have been simply playing my MS-1 and PzII, with an occasional foray with a M8A1 that I'm playing in a similar style to the light tanks, i.e. cautiously, using as a spotter and handing out supporting damage.

Enjoying WoT much more, even though the MS-1 and PzII were already elited, the crews at 100% and training in skills, with various bits of add on kit mounted, my success rate and ER has improved tremendously. Have now got my win rate up, last few weeks it running over 70% on the MS-1 and most of the losses are attributable to team lemming tactics and being 3-12 down after a few minutes. It is frustrating being last man standing, top gun AND still on the losing side however. frown

This thread sums it up, especially the posts by momo03 and eight_ball are both spot on.

The other thread I liked

Good links, I agree with them too as I have made the same mistake chasing higher tanks.

Going backwards and mastering the lower levels really does help as you go higher although will be looking to go to the Panther2 and Ausf B fairly soon. I am also doing the Russian line so am doing the same with the Kv1 & 2 so feel like I am learning my trade.

I know I am geeing better as I really struggled going from Jagdpanther to the Ferdinand but now I am getting multiple kills most games in the Ferdinand.

No. Clans are allowed up to 100 members, and you need that many to be able to field two good teams in clan wars on a daily basis. The closest PH has come to clan like battles is when a date and time has been agreed to be online, and we've formed a tank company to play company battles.

If it happens again count me in.

Thats not a bad idea actually, there are loads of people with a fare few tanks since we last did it.

How about a PH company battle one night? Tier 8 is normally the bast bet unless a lot of people dont have one. I am sure we could make a channel on the BM mumble server to do it.

I'd love to - at the moment I'm only as high as Tier 7 (with both fully upgraded/good crew T20 and KV-3), but I'll have Pershing in a week or so. Always wanted to try a large coordinated battle or ten! biggrin

I tend to have high level evenings and low level evenings, and to be honest I'm enjoying the low level evenings the best! I think when (ha!) the British tanks are released I'm going to hang around the lower tiers getting the crews to 100% before moving on, trying to figure out how to use them properly rather than just storming up the tech tree. It helps I don't play with a premium account very often as you get to play in the tank for a few more games.

However, there are tanks that are just plain rubbish or I don't get on with (AMX40, M7 for example) that I wouldn't want to spend my precious WoT playing time on!

Sounds like a great idea. I need a little time to fully upgrade my Tiger 2 (top gun) and the Ferdinand (engine). Once this is done then I am there.

Possibly I will have the Panther 2 and Ausf A by then too.

Will we need to be using gold ammo for these types of battle?

Thing that I like about this game, as opposed to the other online games that PH and "the other place" wink got into is that it can be played at your own pace and when it suits.

Example Inselkampf, if there is a concerted clan attack on another lot, all timed and co-ordinated, it can be extremely difficult to take part dependant upon family, work, travel commitments. Here, at the level and time of personal convenience gives greater freedom and less guilty feelings for having a Real Life.

Oh, anyone who hasn't already seen them, the update notes for 7.5 are well worth a look - especially with some French tanks currently on offer, as their tech tree is being moved. Soon-to-be tier 7 AMX 13 75 for £435k? Don't mind if I do biggrin

And I haven't even researched it yet hehe the compensation is that you'll get the 14000XP back as free, though, which must be nice - that's a tier 5 tank's worth!

I like that Pershing's repair costs are being reduced before I even get there wink but also, don't miss the big news about the matchmaking. They say the tiers are being tightened a lot, which is excellent news - having most games with just three or even two tiers' spread (excluding artillery, of course) would be great, and it looks like a genuinely big change with the amount of tanks that they're having to rebalance for it. Nice smile
