There seems to be some genuine confusion about this. I was only in open beta as well yet the following statement seems to indicate I will get the tank.

Wargaming.net CEO said:
Closed beta testers (as well as those players with 1000 or more battles under their belt) will be rewarded with an M4A2E4 tank to acknowledge their contribution to the game's development
In the developer blog it says the criteria is as you say.
Oooooh, I hadn't seen that. I understood CB and more battles (may be up to 1000, could be less). Sadly, I suspect the developers are right.... could be a poor translation of the CEO's words?

I just bought the medium tank and gold package - the heavy package was just a little too much to swallow - especially as I just convinced the wife to buy another HDTV......

I am a bit disappointed TBH the packages are a bit on the expensive side, I think I will probably keep playing for free for the moment

You can quite easily manage without gold IMHO up to tier 6; after that you will struggle without a premium account. This seems to be the tipping point where ammo +repair costs outstrip income unless you have a premium account. In really successful games I have earned 50K+ credits at tier 7/8 with a standard account. After ammo/repair costs I have been left with less profit than playing at tier 5.

I am assuming you will be able to buy extra gold when it goes live - just at a higher price?

Just pre-ordered the medium tank package :-)

Counting the hours. Hope a cold/wet front comes in so I don't feel to guilty sitting in front of the PC while it's nice and sunny out !

I was thinking; for the first few days/weeks, will there not be a glut of battles all with the same tanks?

To answer your earlier question you will be able to buy gold separately. As for a glut of the same tanks; I think things will move along quite quickly. Some players will buy other premium tanks. Premium tanks have elite status so you can convert the XP to free experience and research what you want. I will certainly be doing this as I spent a couple of hours playing a Loltraktor last night. 5kph up the hill at Himmelsdorf wasn't fun.

Looks like it's going to be down most of the day..

"World of Tanks informs all its players that pre-release maintenance works are scheduled for 4:00 AM UTC, April 12. From that moment World of Tanks game will be unavailable for up to 18 hours"

What time will it be up, I wonder...... (can't wait!)

Do you think it's worth pointing out to the develpers that Britain was in that war too?

They know that. British tanks are there. You can play a Valentine, Matilda or Churchill.

I was basing it on the website being divided into Russian, American and German.

I'm waiting too. Played a few games last night; tried out some of the premium ammo (nothing else to do with the gold!). It seemed good, but not so as I'd pay for it normally.... I will look more closely at the stats from time to time tho, there may be places it'd be good (or maybe load 4 or 5 to help cover a tactical retreat wink ).

Anyhow, for my last Beta game, appeared near the top of the list for once in my SU-152 and had a cracking battle, destroyed 6, damaged 2, scouted 6 or 7, got killed by the last remaining TD (a JP IV) who went on to destroy our last tank and then lost out to our final arti boy, face to face smile Scored my best exp in a single battle - 1652.

Good way to end the beta and I hope it'll carry on into the full release!

Premium ammo has better penetration but does the same damage. Not something really required on a ISU 152 which can take out a Tiger II in two shots. It does an obscene amount of damage compared to the Jagdpanther I usually play.

I may well go down the Russian TD route. The SU 75,85,85B aren't as good as their German counterparts but the higher tier German TD's all suffer from the fact they are quite high so difficult to hide on some maps and get spotted well before the Russian TD's.

I'm sticking with the german stuff for now - wasted so much gold and experience on rubbish!

Some are saying the server's back up, but I can't log in still. :confused@

Was only SU... some way off grinding to the ISU. I've been trying the smaller guns with higher fire rate too, seemed to work OK on the SU, when you've still got about a year and a half between reloads, you don't want bounces wink

I'd ignored prem ammo up till now, but I will possibly consider it in future. Would have been handy the time I rammed/trapped a Maus (with a tank, not a TD) then realised I was blowing myself up as well using HE to get through its amour... we both died on my last shot!

Some of the Russian TDs have shockingly bad gun traverses and especially no depression which can come as a bit of a shock the first time someone bears down on you and you can only shoot the sky frown Don't know how that compares to the Germans tho.

Might give the German TDs a go this time; although I'll certainly run up another AT1 with the big HE gun - always a giggle.

I downloaded this recently but when I try to install it AVG identifies it as malware ( pws-spyeye!env.a) anybody else had this? Its made me abit nervous about installing it. Could be a false positive from AVG but im not 100% convinced.

Its about £7 a month for enough gold to buy a premium account. I wouldn't call that insane.
