Some people really hate artillery. My Hummel was destroyed by one of my own team in the opening seconds of a game once. I guess he'd had a bad experience in the previous game.
He wasn't called Egres456 by any chance was he? Just had a game where I was doing really well in the AMX40 for a change, and was up to 4 kills when I notice this tt in a T28 was showing -3. He'd killed both our artillery and one of our lights costing us the game. dick head. If i'd realised soon I'd probably had a go at taking him out myself.Problem with the is8 it that it is woeful with the basic gun (at least I found it to be). I had something like a 40% win rate with it until I upgraded to the top gun (by using the 5% free xp I hated it so much), the little one just doesn't cut it with either t9 or t10 - combined with it being much more of a heavy medium than a straight heavy means that you can find yourself outgunned and out armoured all too often.
With top gun it's ok and I have finally got the win rate back up to 50%. At least it leads to the is7 which is still considered to bethe best heavy...although I found the US T10 heavy the best on the test server last time...

Ok, so upgraded a few of my tanks together but only enough cash for one. So, what do I go for?
T54
Is8
Object 704
Lorraine
T54 I like, especially since I got the top gun it (feels a bit underpowered @ 200dmg/shot), good to run around the place in. Can really turn a battle in the right place at the right time, then another right place a minute later, and another right place after that T54
Is8
Object 704
Lorraine
IS8 well, I'm grinding it, it's not really made a big impression on me one way or the other (hated the IS 4 though); quite fast for a heavy.
Object 704 - good fun, does some serious damage with the big gun, hides well and bounces stuff well off the front, but be prepared to be everyone's #1 target once spotted.
Haven't played the lorraine yet (still working on the 13-90) but comments seem to be a bit of a marmite tank - loved or hated but no "meh". I want a batchat eventually though, so I know I will be playing this one....

We've just had a minus 4 dhead before I got to him, couple that with a lemming rush ignoring any cover, that took another 4, some days it's pointless.Beati Dogu said:
I don't remember. I should have written it down.
I also saw an idiot in a Churchill start ripping into our artillery at the start of a game. He had a bit of a rant about them before I think he rage quit.
I have a feeling I am going to thoroughly enjoy playing Artillery. I also saw an idiot in a Churchill start ripping into our artillery at the start of a game. He had a bit of a rant about them before I think he rage quit.
Can anyone remind me how you report/complain against Team Killer's?
Right click their name > complain > team damage
PS - guys, it's the weekend, play tier 1 & 2 to roflstomp the newbies and leave your big expensive tanks in the garage and avoid the morons. You can only complain about 5 TKers a day, and can't complain about people just being plain stupid, so just fly around shooting up the lower tiers before they've even figured out what's going on. If you have a TKer at that level and he takes out 4 friendlies it probably won't make that much difference anyway!

I'd go for the T54. Not got one but it is the one that worries me most of those listed.

It would be interesting to hear how much difference you think the top gun makes when you get it, I only played a few games with the 122mm before using free exp to upgrade to the Zis. I felt the 122mm just didn't hack it in tier 9 & 10 games and really didn't fancy the grind.
I'm only 16k exp off the ST-I and although I haven't hated the KV-4 I find it too situational to be a real fun tank. In the right game in a city it's great, I got the 'Ace Tanker' badge for mine on Ruinberg last night, an open map with any level of big arty and I seem to spend most of my time avoiding ( or failing to avoid ) being hit to get a good game out of it.

Far more accurate than the 122mm and penetrations are higher. It plays like a Tiger 2 gun wise but seems to be able to take more hits. The size of the thing is as our say an arty target.
I was on one map and could hardly see the tank yet still hit, penned and damaged. - no way I wold have managed that with the 122. I am expecting a happy grind to the St-1.
Sulking now.
Having done the grind to get enough XP to research the 8.8cm PAK 36 L/56 gun to fit to my JgdPz IV wotsit I've been out and bought a VK3601 thinking I can drop it on there. Oh no, ones a KwK and ones a PAK! Bloody identical apart from the mounting but now I've got to research the whole thing all over again.
No wonder the krauts lost the war - if they'd just have allowed their various research labs to talk to each other, they might not have wasted so much time.

I've been caught out by that before.
Can't remember the gun, but in real life, the only difference is someone ground off a section of the breech to make it fit. Something like 16,000XP in the game for that mod.
Spotting mechanics can leave a bit to be desired. Just can round a corner in the T25 to find a chaffee parked up facing the other way. He spotted me about the time I pulled the trigger, at a range of, oh, 5, maybe 6 centimetres...
...
"oh, hai"

Aaaargh, more muppetry. Attacking South on Lakeville some idiot goes "attack down the middle", so everyone sets of single file between the moutain and the lake and unsurprisingly get picked off one by one. Leaving me to hold the west in my own in an AMX40 and 2 lights to hold the east. Within a few minutes it's only the 3 of us and the arty left. I managed 2 kills and got the highest score on our team of a pretty dismal 282.
Bugeye, do DUDS do any company battles or can you only do platoons at the lower levels? I'm thinking it may be time I joined a company to play with people who might have some form of plan.

The same conclusion I came to, for memory I described it as a 'light' version of the Lowe's gun, really makes the tank worth playing. Rizzo... we play a few company battles but a lot more platoons with countdowns to try and get in the same game. Works well enough most of the time. The cries of hackers when we get 3 platoons on one side is always nice but opposite sides on the same game is usually the most fun
You can join company battles without being in a clan and just pick your tank level. I wouldn't expect that much from them though unless you get into a company that is mainly one clan

The lorraine is terrible as tier 9. Not fast enough, poor armour, they removed the best gun so you're looking at $1000 per round. Very hard to get anywhere. I sold mine. Was apparently great at tier 8.
Looking forward to that, then... TooLateForAName said:
tbh I prefer my AMX50 100 which is a heavy, but smaller than the lorry, and you get the choice of the dca45 90mm gun which only costs $250/round.
I like the 100mm sa47 (?IIRC) on mine... takes blinking ages to reload, but really puts out the damage for 6 shots Talking of long reloads, a few times now I've shot off in my AMX 13-90 and met the enemy before the first set of 6 has even loaded

Agree on the reload times though - regular arguments about why I wouldn't rush the hill or the mine in an amx13.
