Has anyone managed to modify any weapons yet?
Yep.

I have the uprated 357 pistol. I have the laser rifle scope and beam splitter for more damage. I have the extended mag and silencer for a varmint rifle. I have a scope for my new hunting rifle.

I think that's it right now... I just buy the bits from traders. THe scope on the laser rifle is superb fun though...

I'm doing it on my own without a companion. Where do I find boone? Level 17 now and a companion would be nice!
In the dinosaur in Novac. He does the night shift. You'll have to do a mission for him, but its a pretty small fun one really.
Since this is the spoilers thread, I don't mind saying this. But does anyone else think that Boone's backstory is desperately sad? His wife abducted and sold into slavery, and him being a sniper managed to track her to a camp and observe her at a slave auction along with hundreds of other slaves and knowing that he couldn't rescue her and only had this one opportunity to 'save' her he took her out with a head shot. frown

I found it rather touching and upsetting for some reason.

^^ I got "That gun" from the store in novac last night, worth every cap! Made short work of the Super Mutants at black mountain, including the boss!

There's lots of loot up there too which is nice, got myself a rocket launcher now!

Its very easy to steal if you get the door open, its just sitting on the shelf waiting to be half inched!

I see people are struggling with carrying stuff etc and are using companions. Just thought I'd point out that there is a dresser in the Doctors house in Goodsprings where you can store as much stuff as you want.......It's like your locker in the Megaton house in F3.

For 100 caps (for an indefinite stay) you can rent a room at the Novac motel which includes bed, locker, safe, wardrobe and dresser. I'm using it as my home for now until something better comes along.

Oh well. 100 caps isn't the end of the world and it did mean I had the room earlier.

Sounds to me like people are struggling with caps is that right?

I had 9k before I even got to lvl 10 and the strip and seeing as I only have 3 str, i cannot even carry that much.
In my opinion the game makes getting caps a lot easier than F3. I definitely strggled there.

Also did anyone else killed the kid that was being attacked by his "girlfirend" for his cap necklace? >smile

I wouldn't say i'm strugling for caps, I have 5k ish at level 10 but then i'm fairly careful what i pick up as I won't loot everything but then I rarely buy anything either.

Any more insight into the blue caps and the pre-war treasure?

I'm finding it much easier to accrue caps at the moment compared to FO3, but stimpacks are hard to come by. However, food is plentiful and as such i'm remaining healthy. I just helped the Brightfollowers launch from the rocket factory and then got that old ladies head blown off in Novac so have Boone following me. I've not yet seen how handy he is with a sniper rifle yet but can't wait to kick some Legion ass later tonight.

Nope, only what that guy who approaches you early on has said.

I have 11 now though.

Yeh I'm struggling to find stimpaks, traders and stores only seem to have a few in stock each time I go there, but like you said other food is plentiful and there are quite a few beds dotted around that you can kip down on.

Also, my barter skill is still pretty low but the price of repairs seems very high to me, the Major at the NCR outpost wants silly money to repair some of my stuff.

What is annoying me is the need to have high repair and speech skills to do anything, had to give the main quest a stop and carry on with side quests to get my speech up to 55 to pass a speech check which will help finish the main quest.

Also when going to the boomers, don't go south around to the abandoned train tunnel, fk load of deathclaws,

Do you not think its a good way to stop you finishing the game straight off?

I spent too long doing side quests last night, but i guess thats the point in the game.

Having just got to vegas, i hope there is much much more of the game left
