You don't actually have to pay to get in though, it's just a credit check to make sure you have plenty of caps to lose in the casinos!

I've done the debt collecting and havn't given the money back yet, but i still only have 900 caps lol

Yes it's quite helpful that you KNOW you will fail before opting for it so gives you the chance to stop asking questions etc... OR you KNOW you will succeed!!BTW - how excited am I to find .50 MG Ammo - Can't wait to find the toy that shoots those beasties...... And 25mm Grenades too (though my 40mm 'nades were a bit crap)..
Finally got me a Plasma Rifle, and the Scope on the Laser Rifle is rather cool for fairly long range shots.......

managed to do a lot of missions in freelandr and got into vegas 
only problem is being sat on my arse for 3 hours has made me lay awake in bed 
should have been asleep ages ago oh well. Pistonheads mobile and my trust n95 will keep me amused.

I'm well and truly into this now, played a good few hours yesterday, I've got ED-E as my companion, he is lugging around a load of trinkets for me whilst helping to kill any beasties we happen upon.
I'm still not at Vegas yet, been doing a few side quests in the wasteland, just helped Ranger Jackson out and he gave me a few nice things for my troubles.
I'm back on my way to Novak now so one step closer to Vegas.
Has anyone managed to modify any weapons yet?

Just wanted to voice my annoyance.
So I am playing as a NCR groupie. taking back prisons and town for them, solving their problems, repaired helios ONE (though i chose restore power to the entire region, it is still better than running the plant at 1%). Fixed their food supply problems, basically everything in my power to strengthen theirs. so I get Cassy as my companion and she wants me to take out the Van Graffs and Crimson Caravan b
h. I wanted to find evidence first but got attacked by the van graff guard so had to wipe them out, then the crimson caravan...
What do I get in return? A messenger from NCR saying i go 3 days to do soemthing good for them or they will basically try to kill me...
Great! so all these good deeds undone by one misstep? WTF? I feel like joining the legion just to prove a point to the NCR, but sadly they hate me also.
anyway, so I had "I put a spell on you" quest in my diary, so thought i'd do that within the alotted 3 days to make things ok again. but the quest is so buggy i have now spent 5 days camping the damn radio tower and finally managed to get to next stage to do with the monorail bit.
Am not asking for help per se, just venting my frustration at the shoddy balance and bugs...
still love the game tho

:Oare you ranged or melee?
If melee I would strongly advise the Brotherhood bird at trading post 188, she can wear power armour (if you find one for her) and is a good tank.
also there is a nice robot in Prim if you can repair it (high repair or science or parts will work), it doesn't count as a humanoid companion, so can be stacked with another.

The first companion you can get is the robot ED-E at the Nash residence in Primm.It's broken but can be repaired with a 65 repair skill, 35 repair and 55 science or 3x scrap metal, 2x scrap electronics and a sensor module.
He's pretty handy with his laser and ability to carry 210 points of stuff.
I haven't made it to Novak yet so not very far into the main quest so havent happened upon any other companions.

I have a silenced Varmint rifle, awesome for stealthing around.Did you have to find a silencer or can it be made at a workstation?
But tbh, the rifle get's hopelessly left behind on DPS once you get to level 10 or so. I was going to go as a pure stealth character, but it seemed less and less viable in the end. Perhaps it might work as melee though. sneak up and one kill whack with a guitar! :O
