Played GT5 this morning and my intitial reaction was "meh".

Premium cars look stunning, standard cars look very average.
Tracks aren't all that detailed to be honest but the lighting really makes them look good.
Nordschleife and La Sarthe are epic.
Night racing looks great, rain looks crap especially compared to F1 2010.
Some cars sound great but most that I've tested still sound like hairdryers.
Physics/handling is nice but not a huge leap forward, much closer to Forza 3 than any pc sim.
Damage is crap.
Licences are dull as dishwater.
Not a fan of the menus at all.

All in all a bit of a letdown considering the hype and development time but its still a great racing game.
In which mode can you access Nordschleife?
Couldn't see it in GT Practice or Arcade Time Trial.....

I thought the grumpy old men show had arrived. I didn't expect the comeback to be so soon.

I don't want to start a massive bun fight here, but... Forza doesn't have much to worry about if this is the best they can do in years of development. There's some big improvements over GT4, but really, I'm getting less and less interested in this game, and I've only had it a few hours.

The graphics aren't bad at all, the physics aren't exactly revolutionary, the damage is laughable, the exhaust notes sound like the microphone was in a bean can during recording. It's starting to bug me already.

Shall see how it develops.
Well no-one said it was going to be the most amazing driving game in the world rolleyes
Where did I say they did, or that I was expecting it to be? Are you getting all butt-hurt because someone doesn't like it or, more likely, was it a disposable comment from someone with nothing better to say?

Given the hype this game has received, and the constant delays being imposed on it's release because they want to make it so amazing and super and lovely, I don't see why it's beyond criticism nor why it shouldn't be compared to the competition with some very tall expectations. Being as the only person not actually talking about the game in the thread, is you, perhaps it's time to wind your neck in until you've something worth posting that isn't just some social commentary drivel, don't you?

Why are people so defensive of a game which I presume they had no involvement in making ?

It's very odd.

I'm not exactly expecting necessarly to meet the hype, but then again perhaps my expectation is somewhat different to yours. If you want to spend the whole pointing out the little things then get rid of it.

So tragically defensive, why ?

What's wrong with some people not liking the game, or giving their honest opinion of the game.

Wheres the difference of opinion in this thread? This thread is just about pointing niggles, rather than enjoying the game.

My 2p - so far - I think it's good. Not played so much yet, or driven so many cars, but it's got a good 'feel'. Mostly anyway. The elise test on the top gear test track was like driving on ice with the assists turned down.
In my opinion Forza3 has the edge. Just.

Indeed, but after five years of development, I expect the game to have physically sucked me dry and gobbled the lot before I've even switched on the Playstation.

Not too much to ask surely?

Why? Being as I've paid for it, have spent some time playing it, and own many of the games it's likely to be compared to, and am posting on a thread where opinions are being sought, I'd say mine and everyone elses contributions to this thread are far more relevant. Again, you seem to be getting your arse in your hands because the big bad men on the internet are picking faults with your precious game.
Put the crack pipe down and ignore the negative posts if you don't like it being objectively reviewed. I'm not going to universally sing it's praises when I think there's some things that are disappointing, especially when someone has asked what others think of the game.

If I wasn't so busy mopping up spilt milk so poor CosworthV8 can stop crying I'd consider it, frankly. God forbid anyone at a magazine gives it a bad review, he'll be sending them boxes of his droppings.

Well having said that, I might be sending you my turd if your review turns out to be true: I've only gone and bought a PS3 especially for this game!

I did too mate, over a year ago ( hehe ) I'm not suggesting it's a bad game, but it's not amazing and for me at least it's a bit disappointing. I'm running it though a seriously good AV setup and it's not all that. It's definitely decent, well worth a few hours, just nowhere near the super-duper-forzacrushing- be all and end all we were promised. The premium cars look stunning though smile

I was going to suggest directing your turds at Polyphony, but if their mail department is as slow as their game development department, they'll arrive as priceless fossils. Best you hang onto them chap biggrin
