Its not long before I lead old BOB outside with the shot gun under my arm. Im in the same boat as every one else. I have given bob a 600bhp Ford truck and at Daytona he seems to break into every corner and then mid corner. Off the start I get like a 5 second lead and then he just looses it all and comes 3rd every race! Im gonna kill him soon!
I think I ended up changing the top speed on the transmission to about 230 - this meant that he started taking more speed into and through the corners.
I've really struggled with Bob on these circuits.

Give him the ZR1 Race car on a 'normal' circuit, and I can punt and pressure my Bob along to win against R8 Lemans stuff, but then get him on the banked circuit in the same car, against lesser cars, and he really is struggling to corner.

Sometimes, with good use of the 'increase pace' as Freecar suggested, at the right times, he'll carry lots more speed into the bend, 165mph say, rather than 145mph... a huge difference.
But it's just not consistent.

I've levelled him up more beyond the level for that race too, but he just doesn't seem capable of driving on these circuits.
Even on Daytona he'll jerk brake over the s/f line weirdly.

Clearly the other AI doesn't have an issue with it, so I'm not sure really where the issue is. Is this a bug, or a 'feature' that doesn't work right, or some kind of unspoken training element where you need to drive Bob many times on these circuits until he is happy on them?
Perhaps a car setup issue but it's hard to detect because Bob doesn't ever say anything to you?
Maybe a fudging element by PD to force you to A-spec to get the Like the Wind prize, or perhaps grind to buy a Lemans car or something!?

Ignoring the historic cup and like the wind in b-spec though, you can happily sail through the other series and races with the Zonda R or Furai... which is now what I am doing. I can return to these buggy races later and finish them off with the X1 hehe

Dave
Like the wind isn't actually difficult on B-Spec once you've won it in A-Spec, the Minolta clears it without too many problems, you then win the Toyota 7 which is allegedly the only car you stand a chance with in B-Spec historical cup! I'm still trying to do cote d azur.

I just don't get B-Spec at all...... I am level 23 on A-Spec, am really enjoying it and only today just decided to see what all this B-Spec talk was all about. Why would I want to sit and watch a computer drive my cars around the track for me...what a total waste of time, and totally infuriating!!!

Leave B-spec running a few races to earn you credits and cars whilst you do other stuff. On the endurance races you can leave it running overnight as well. You will win unmissable and otherwise unaffordable cars like the Toyota 7, Mazda Furai, Zonda R and many others including the Red Bull X1.

Fair enough. As a matter of interest when do the endurance races appear, I can't see any on A-Spec. Do you have to be at a certain level before they are 'activated'?

They appear at level 25 on both - a new option appears abouve the Professional and Extreme options on the menu screen.

A spec endurance is pretty hard though as tyre wear comes into effect. I tried the first one on Grand Valley in a tuned Gallardo and the tyres lasted 7 laps, and it was like driving on snow! Even though the other cars were about 300bhp down on me, they didn't need to pit until lap 18/19 so it was pointless trying to overpower them. I quit after my fourth pit on lap 26 and was in 8th place 1 lap down. Need to change my strategy on that one before trying it again.

B spec though, I just use the Formula GT as a fire and forget missile!

But quite a lot of of the time you can't leave it running, or you need to check and micro-manage to make sure it gets done without a failure. Once up at lvl 22-23 your car advantage of Furai and Zonda R are disappearing fast, so you really do need to start to manage some of the races more, which is actually boring and annoying.
I feel that at this stage you NEED to do the A-spec like the wind to get a car to then make continued B-spec hands-off winning much easier (what I am doing now)

Agree on the cars you win though...

I've been doing it on a night because it's quiet vs the G25 wheel which is noisy, and can just do work on PC while flicking back to PS3 to see how it's going.

If you want to see how well damage works then never let your Bob pit. When he's physically and mentally exhausted and the tyres are worn down, give him loads of red arrow and keep cancelling the auto pit-in command. Mine has just completed the most entertaining 6 min lap of Grand Valley ever seen. And demolished a Gallardo in the process.

The Gallardo tends to neutral/understeer though, so lots of panel damage biggrin

You want to try a fully tuned Cobra, it's just 11's everywhere for a whole lap of sideways action at about 3x slower than normal pace hehe

I might subject one of my Bobs to that. He gets a bit stressed at times, so lets go the hole hog and push for a nervous breakdown!

can anyone help me with the b-spec uk leightweights championship?

my guy is a total pleb and ive given him a few choices, all of which he has royally cocked up. 2nd race is done its the london one im struggling with.

first off he had a near standard elise. no joy, then he tried a 400hp griff 500, no joy. then i upped the elise to 190hp, and he spins from 3rd place every time.

as a last ditch - joke - effort i gave him an 1100hp TVR speed 12, which he used to its full advantage and finished 7th.

really at a loss on this one.

IIRC I used an Elise.

You could try the XJ13

Elise with race car upgrade, won them both really really easily.

Also a good car to have generally as it's really fun, and it's relatively cheap too (relatively smile )

Mine used a lightly tweaked Elise 111R, he even pulled off a decent move on the sequence of 90 degree corners. Ran a bit quick through one corner and used the slingshot to get on the inside of the leading car on the next corner.

That sounds good. B-spec really isn't a good money maker until you repeat races with a winning car that often costs a few repeats of the race to break even biggrin

Also might mean people experiment with more cars and stuff.

B-spec can end up being a single optimised very fast car grinding session which is ultimately not very satisfying at all. I can see why they have changed these things!
