What are people's thoughts on how to avoid appearing on the mini-map when shooting?
I keep sneaking up on people or staking out a choke point, then getting a kill on an unexpected enemy, only for another enemy/ies to immediately zone in on me. It can only be because they've seen me on the minimap, as I'm usually hidden out of the way.
Is the only option to fit a suppressor or keep on the move? Is there any other way to limit how long and from how far away you're exposed on the mini-map when firing?
PS: I'm not really interested in playing hardcore as I struggle to keep track of people I've spotted without the little diamond over them!

Nice to sheets tabour (xbox) for suggesting to try the MP7 to get the PDW ribbon..........
got it twice, straight away
one question for the collective..... obviously as soon as i get it, the extended mag is a must but i did try the silencer and seems to suffer alot on 1v1 due to the power reduction. what are people liking as attachments?

The suppressor doesn't affect the level of damage inflicted, post-patch - does it? got it twice, straight away

I thought it now just increased bullet drop and decreased range?

IMO, you'd kill more people by throwing sausage rolls at them than shooting them with the M4
Interested to read this. I find the M4 with a Holo sight and Heavy barrel to be pretty darn good. Saying that, I have not used too many other carbines etc. What do most of you chaps use when you're an engineer?

SG-553 with foregrip, flash supressor & reflex sight
But also;
SCAR-H with heavy barrel & reflex sight
AKs-74u with foregrip, heavy barrel & reflex sight
Sometimes the M4 too, but havn't tried it since the patch.

Well, here's the thing. I've got almost twice as many kills with the SCAR than any other engineer gun, but as I've said before, I'm on a mission to get all the attachment unlocks for each gun, so I dont use THE best guns, to a detriment to my stats, but you know what? I really don't care. Current engineer WOC is actually the M4A1 which I like, I just cant get on with its M4 sibling (and I don't actually know what the difference is)

I've also got twice as many SCAR kills than any other engineer weapon, it's partly what inspired me to try out the others!
I keep switching my weapons over as I like the variety, I don't understand those who can stick to just one or two guns when there are so many on offer- probably doesn't help me from a gameplay success point of view though
Yeah I might be meaning the M4A1 in my post- which ever one fires full auto. Saying that, I may try the burst-fire-only one given how much I like the similar KH2002

Yes that's the M4A1 although I actually use it burst fire manually or switch it over via the V. Not sure if the M4 has less punch? Either way, I'm going to have to man up soon and start using it as I'm running out of guns to level up :P)I might have to be adventurous later on and try my hand at some different guns. Ive got comfy with a couple, but looking at a lot of stats on the web they seem to be frowned upon by most people.
Plus are there many PH regulars who set up camp with a sniper rifle and deploy a Soflam? I spotted a friendly soflam last night so I whipped out the Javelin. Paired with an ammo drop from some nice fellow I had a good 10-15mins busting tanks wide open!

I spend a reasonable amount of time playing engineer and I rarely ever use my gun - too busy driving, flying, repairing, mining or firing rockets!
The only reason I can see why you'd be worried about your gun as an engineer is if you're trying to unlock the carbine medal or dog tags for the carbines.
If you really want to get involved in taking out infantry as an engineer, I find the .50 Cals on the vehicles are pretty handy.

I havent really tried alot of the carbines yet , Loved the A91 and building up my scar kills at the minute - i like to use all the weapons and get the star for them all
A long range rpg kill is immensely satisfying too - snipers on the building/crane - Gulf of Oman flag D
