Twice last night I ended up in games where numpties on my team were blocking the runway with tanks and jeeps, blowing up the helicopters and jets as they spawned, and generally being complete dicks. I really don't understand that, at all.
But my mood was improved by shooting down several helicopters with tanks, which never seems to get old smile

My new pet hate is tank gunners. Every time someone jumps in to gun for me, as soon as we come across some infantry, they seem to think that the absolute best thing they can do is jump out of the tank and engage them on foot. And they always, always get killed.

STAY IN THE BIG ARMOURED METAL THING AND SHOOT THEM WITH THE BIG FCK OFF MACHINE GUN YOU FLAMING CLOT!!!

Why do they do that??

They really need to buff up the HMG damage of the tank and Hummer. It takes just as many hits with one as it does with a handheld weapon. I'm almost positive that they're .50 calibre which would blow a hole through your chest, flak jacket or not.

Also had an funny situation last night. Start of the round on Caspian, we jump in a tank and the driver doesn't move. Then eventually says in chat 'get out, this is my tank for me and my buddies.'

Now it was the start of the round so all other transport had left and, TBH, had he asked nicely I probably would have but he attitude really boiled my piss so myself and my other buddy on TS decided to stay put. We sat there for about ten minutes, not moving. He moved behind the base not far from out of bounds and sat there. I think he went afk to be honest! Eventually another guy pushed the tank out of bounds and he died in his tank but what a tt! He swapped sides and had a hugely negative score, something like 2-10 by the end.

Had some of that when I spawned in the gunners seat of a jeep. tt drove straight off the quayside on kharg island. Then him and his mate stood there shooting at me. (friendly fire was off so no point).
If they wanted to play together they should lock the squad, tts!

Drives me mad that does! Very rarely have I seen a situation where you would be better off engaging on foot. The only time it proves better is when you are getting C4'ed and cannot get the gun onto the soldier.

While we are on the subject of stupid gunners, I hate it when someone random gets in your Tank and goes AWOL. Don't get me wrong, I have had strangers jump in and prove themselves to be fantastic gunners.....However, when you are trying to sneak around and flank an unsuspecting enemy Tank, it's a bit annoying when the gunner decides to shoot the enemy Tank, doing no damage yet alerting him (and all nearby troops!) of our location - ARGH!! Then of course, you get the idiots who try and shoot everything i.e, fast moving jets, solid walls, players out of range, fuel tankers, trees and bushes, fking windows.....And breathe...

That really annoys me. Luckily, the guys I regularly play BF3 with are sound, and don't do the ADHD thing of shooting the tank LMG at anything that moves. Disagree about it needing a damage buff though - irl it pretty much would be an OHK on a soldier for sure, but that would make it pretty imbalanced.

Yup, if they get in under the gun then it's definately getting out time. But a couple of guys with Smaws? Getting out just means that they kill you, then the tank. As gunner, I'll stay in until the last minute.
Maybe people just don't like sitting in the turret much?

I find myself using canister shell virtually all the time these days, 'cause good gunners are so rare.

And here is a pet hate of mine. I love some C4 action but cant tell you how many times Ive 'got in under the gun', alongside planting C4, to be blown to kingdom come by a tank shell. Seriously, do tank main guns bend? banghead

Or, the tank driver that after I spawn on him and his tank decides to place said vehicle right on a flag assuming it to be invisible or indestructible and while I am frantically trying to shoot 3 or 4 enemy he sits there watching the flag burn!

Having a bit of a frustrating patch now. Just approaching the 72 hour mark, which in the grand scheme of things, but as far as online shooters go, it's the longest I've ever played one. I feel like I'm losing my edge. Just had two matches on Tehran Highway, 0-9 and 2-16, I feel like I'm getting absolutely hammered no matter what I try.

I'm still hungry to win, I desperately want to keep on my game, even if by the standards of some of the regulars I play with, I'm not amazing in terms of KDR, but I am good at playing to win, generally scoring towards the top of the table by objectives, using class skills and racking up a good number of kills, even if I have to die a bit to get there. Unfortunately, I feel like I have a mental block - I can't hit anything with my sniper rifle, and every time I spot an enemy I either get beaten to the shot by a team mate, or I miss and get shot down by the enemy. Sometimes when I'm on, I know I'll have a duff game here and there if I'm playing when I'm tired, but I've been feeling great the last few sessions I've had, yet I still keep getting my ass handed to me, too often to be an anomalous bad luck streak.

It's like experiencing COD rage, but on Battlefield. Argh!

I've had sessions like that, and they seem to come in groups...

Play around with the server filter, and try different servers. I've noticed sometimes I'm unstoppable, sometime average, often rubbish. A lot seems to be down to the.server though, as I now switch when having a really bad day and it seems to make a huge difference.

I may be wrong, but I believe it can only take one player from outer Mongolia on the server for things to turn to st. Someone more knowledgable than me will chip in with the detail around that though.

Keep at it!

The problem is that the more you get frustrated, the more you try to force success. It just doesn't work like that. It must come naturally when you're in the zone. What you need to do is smash through this conscious stage and get to the subconscious stage by continuing to play for the next 5 hours.

Apart from switching servers, which can be sound advice, if you're getting killed a lot, change your tactics! Flanking always works well, it just takes more time so most people just go for the direct (and predictable) route.

Most of my (few) streaks come from working out (after many hours) how most people will approach an objective and then setting up a trap for them, whether that's a claymore of me waiting with a big machine gun on a bipod, or a sniper rifle hidden in cover.

Once you've got the hang of that, you'll start to work out how people react to being killed in a trap you set up (most will immediately spawn at the nearest flag/teammate and try to flank you). Then you can set up a trap for that too. evil

Difficult to do on open maps like Kharg and Caspian, much easier on Bazaar and Metro.

Just shattered the block with a quick half hour tv break, then back on it. No amazing matches, but no appalling performances. Totally understand the forcing it thing, the harder you try, the worse you get. I always have my best matches late at night, in a party with a few lads from work when we just aren't giving a fk, the banter is flowing and I'm totally relaxed. The more I focus on winning / killing more / dying less, the more I perpetuate the cycle of dying.

That said, I've always maintained BF is much harder to get kills in than COD, where you can pretty much kill an enemy by looking at them. Seems if you can see any enemy who is focused on a target other than you, chances are someone else is looking square at you and is about to pull the trigger too!

A night map in AK as well?!

Ontop of the smorgasbord of machinery, the snow map, and the one that looks alarmingly like Harvest Day/Heavy Metal, I'm properly looking forward to this DLC.

Does anyone know what causes the 2-5 step shuffle, ie move forwards a step and then you get transported back 2-5 steps?

Why you get a disconnected symbol yet when you die (you cant move but still in the game) it disappears

Or why it keeps losing connection to EA Servers?

And why does it only effect a few players; Dobbin, myself and Eybic having a fool around last night, Eybic had chronic issues, mine had issues but not so bad, Dobbin had nothing
