Hi, just sent you a request. Battlefield allows player rented servers. We have PH ones on all formats - see the separate PH PS3 Server thread - you can search for it in the Server Browser menu in game. Also join the Battlelog online as it gives you a lot of stats, allows you to join the PH platoon and give yourself PH tags so that others can recognise you. Once you up to speed, if you fancy it put your name down for one of the competitive matches that we organise.

Also join the Battlelog online as it gives you a lot of stats, allows you to join the PH platoon and give yourself PH tags so that others can recognise you. One thing, don't worry about being brilliant before getting onto the PH server or signing up for a match. I join in and I'm rubbish! Teamplay is the way to earn xp, so dropping medkits/ammo and latching onto a decent player to support them is a great way to level up, unlock stuff and learn the maps.

Thanks! I'll be online later. Waiting for an e-mail with my password for the battlelog. I'll have a look for the PH PS3 Server thread and put my PSNID on there.

Sway - I'll be trying not to die to begin with! Should be on from 10/11 onwards.




ETA: Do you have to have the premium edition to use Battlelog? And if you do then can I still access the PH platoon and servers?

To get on the ph server, go to the search servers but and do a search for "pistonheads" and there were 2 last time I checked.

Nope premium has nout to do with that sort of thing. Your only restrictions will be maps.

Yep, cheers found them. I got team-killed by someone for my jeep though so that put me off

Send a PS3 message to one of the admins on the server (I'm one of them) - we don't tolerate that sort of crap and will kick anyone who does it (the first time, if they do it again they'll be banned).

How do you get team killed on a server with no friendly fire. Someone drove a jeep into me the other day and killed me?

Drive the jeep towards towards your team mate and hop out at the last second before it hits them.

It doesn't count as a team kill, it 'No Mores' them.

Anyways. I still cant fly further than the first tree or building. How do the guys actually do combat in the jets?

Like everything in BF3, it just takes practice. I was exactly the same until I made a concerted effort to try and stick at them - mainly to unlock the 20 hours service medal.

After more than 25 hours in the things I now have about 120 kills and something like that in vehicle destroys (people often bail out of helis/jets you've shot down before they explode, so it's quite difficult to get kills in a jet).

I'm still only average though, regularly have brain farts and stick it in a crane and regularly get shot down by "career pilots".

On the plus side I can land them on the carrier and even take out the odd sniper camped out in the tall buildings on Oman with the cannon.

It's a long and painful road getting anywhere in jets (or helis for that matter). Take off, get shot down, rinse, wash, repeat, until one day, you'll find a game where there aren't any experienced people flying around and you might get a few points.
Once you unlock flares you can start actually learning. I avoided jets for months because of this, though I quite like the odd fly about now. Handy to have in your arsenal in case you need revenge on a heli pilot

Found an absolutely bdy thing to do but it amused me very much on an AK map where the airbase is separate from the main base...

Support armed with c4
Get in a jet and fly to their jet spawn location, taxi to the end of the runway at the end where the jets spawn (make sure you are behind their field of view when they spawn in their jet)
When their jets spawn, jump out and plant C4 on them and jump back in your jet

Wait for some poor sod to fly off, then jump out of your jet, detonate, and jump back in your jet...wait for "WTF?!?!?!??!" messages from angry people.

Pah, I'll stick to my tanks and carry on getting angry messages from others with them. always amusing to take out choppers with them too. I love to gun in helis with "career pilots".

I am absolutely crap in jets, I only have 1 kill in on in 100 hours playing. I just don't bother with then. My only kill was a random minigun bullet hitting an enemy I couldn't even see halfway across the map. Im rubbish with helicopters too, the only time I get kills in those is when I'm in the gubber seat of a viper.

I've slowly improved with the jets, still prefer helicoptors. Always been better with them.

I've spent 8 hrs and 5 mins in jets, and managed 63 kills.... So one kill every 7.7 minutes. Seems like a lot of wasted time
