Anyone else noticed that they've buffed the suppression effect in the latest patch?

I've been primarily in vehicles since the patch came out, but played a bit of Grand Bazaar yesterday with an LSAT deployed on a bipod in cover and it was bouncing all over the place when an IFV was landing explosive rounds near me (but not close enough to injure me).
I must be one of the few that really likes the suppression effect.

I pick up so many suppression ribbons now.

Most people dont shoot unless they can see/ hit someone. If i spot someone behind a rock/ wall, etc....I'll keep bursting off rounds until they eventually pop out, or one of my team can get closer to them and get the kill. Probably why my accuracy is so low.

Suppressing fire can be really useful if working together as a squad.
I do like it and will suppress for teammates, but DICE need to be careful with it - the patch back in the spring made it ridiculous. Essentially the first person to shoot won every 1 on 1 regardless of whether they were using a pistol against someone toting an LMG.

They scaled it back down again in the patch before last to a reasonable level, but they now seem to have upped it again - my LSAT was useless and the enemy rounds weren't even landing particularly close to me.

I'm a big supression player, I used the squad supression perk coupled with LMGs for maximum effectiveness, I only need to land 2 or 3 rounds at most within a few feet of a player, and if someone on my team takes them out I get an automatic sup assist. Plus, we all know how hard it is to fight back once you are greyed out, your gun wobbling all over the place and you can barely see where the shots are coming from. Supression is king.

I'm using the M60 at the moment, working my way through the LMGs to get comfortable with all of them. I thought the M60 was st when I first used it, too much recoil, not enough first shot accuracy etc, but now I'm used to it, it's an absolute death dealer, nearly as good as the LSAT and the L86A2.

My favourite is the M249 - just seems to be the perfect balance of accuracy, power and recoil. Stick a bipod and 3.4x scope on it and it's like a 700 rounds per minute sniper rifle. smile

Have the mastery dogtag with the LSAT,PK Pecheneg and M240 too, haven't really tried out the M60 yet, but will have to give it a go.

What's the deal with the solid slug shotguns? A guy with a SPAS 12 and solid slugs was absolutely owning me with it on Oman - felt like his first shot insta-killed me time after time even when at some distance. It's the only time I've ever come across it, so maybe it was just a mix of his skill and luck?

The other gun that everyone seems to be rocking at the moment is the MP7, haven't tried it myself, is it glitched at the moment?

Slugs - You have to be accurate, but they are very powerful. I played around with it for a bit but it's certainly not a supergun, it needs the skill to go with it. The few times I've run into someone who's good at it though, it's highly annoying!

I've aways used the MP7 whenever possible, both on BF3 and MW3. With the extended mags, and a holo sight, it's pretty damn good, little to no recoil, and with extended mags, plenty in reserve to take down multiple targets.

In the real world, it is basically a mini G36, which coincidentally is one of my favourite BF3 weapons. I'll tend to run the L85A2 or MP7 in Assault, G36C/MP7 in Engineer, L86A2 or P90 in Support, and if I'm not going for a sniper rifle in Recon, usually when it's not a great sniper map but the SOFLAM is needed for aircraft, I'll use the MP7 or P90.

If you don't get on with the MP7 (there's no reason why you shouldn't), then the P90 is worth a look. You cannot equip it with extended mags, but the standard magazine is 52 rounds. Very handy with a holo sight attached, again multiple targets are much simpler with a large magazine.

Playing now, something that's irritating me. I'm in the jet, stuck in a dogfight with the enemy jet, and a teammate decided to use the jet to get up in the air, then bail out to get on the crane. FFS, could use some assistance, and the crane has a fking ladder!

Small enclosed/busy map like Metro/Scrapmetal, and just let rip with the blowtorch.

Ah yes, a pain this one.
I attacked vehicles with it. Took about 2 nights I think, then I finally happened on a n00b who didn't realise what was going on. Vehicle Destroyed + Enemy Killed. Bugger chasing around people with it!

MTAR is good - it's like the Famas for engineers smile

Good game.

Half the problem is that I can't drive the feckin' thing as well, I bounce all over the place.. Up walls, get stuck in walls etc then by the time I've got it anywhere near the enemy they just shoot it. I got really close with one fella, he didn't notice, but his team mate got me instead..... This is getting on my nerves!

Keep at it, you'll get one. Then you'll never have to use the thing again!
I occasionally use it on rush when all else is failing, but rarely with much success. Gives you two goes per life though.

Kharg on a big ticket conquest game is the one to go for. As previously suggested, spawn in the helicopter and spam the select button until you find a sniper hiding in the rocks between A and B. Bail out of the helicopter and sneak up on the sniper, drop the bot right next to him and torch away.
