fking idiots.. Rush means you blow the MCOMS.. Not sit there trying to play TDM!
Very few people actually know this. Seems to be one of BF3's big secrets.JonnyFive said:

No, Rush means camp near your spawn point taking potshots... You do however get the odd game where people will play the objective. I had one Sunday morning where about 8-9 people in the team actually played it to win. The enemy never took our first bases, because each time the Mcom was armed we were all over it disarming them and killing the 2-3 of them who had tried it. Same came to arming them when we attacked - just so many of the team attacking like a plague of locust we just over-ran them.

how do i use the heat seeking missiles on the heli's? do they need to be soflamed...
They will lock on to ground vehicles without assistance, but if they are laser painted by a soflam or citv in tank or the co=pilot seat in the heli(press triangle ps3) youwill get a damage bonus and the can lock onto aircraft with the painter. All heat seaking missiles lock on automatically to enemy aircraft that have a pilot/gunner in them. No soflaming required, just aim at the aircraft for a few seconds.

Whoops, didn't errr read the question..
Andrew this is for guided rockets not heat seekers. Got there in the end.As for people not playing the objective, they are fools. I have a pretty good friends list (has taken a few years of play battlefield games though) so normally find someone to play the objectives with.

I spend a lot of time trying to unlock the assignments/medals - typically that means I find a specific game type/map that is suited to achieving whatever it is I need to achieve and just play that for a while. Normally the achievements involve kills/vehicle destroys/capturing objectives, so I'm indirectly playing the objective anyway, but winning the game isn't my prime objective.
I once spent several hours worth of games hiding in corners waiting to jump out and knife people to unlock the melee medal, that was huge fun and actually taught me a lot about some of the maps and how people play them, but I'm pretty sure I'd have been more effective if I actually fired a few rounds every now and again!

I'm close to getting them all (except that bloody Gun Master game award I like you start off with the game plan of getting my goal but more often than not frustration sets in if Im in a team of muppets and end up going off to disarm the mcom etc because none of the plonkers on my team are doing it. I wish I could just stick to my original aim.FUBAR said:

I've taken a step back from the medals to focus on achievements, but only have the following medals to get:- Mortar (55/300 kills so far)
- Laser designate (170/300 laser assists)
- SQDM (19/50 SQDM wins)
- Gunmaster(0/50 wins)
- Conquest Domination (1/50 wins)
- Armoured Superiority (13/50 wins)
I reckon all of them are achievable with enough time thrown at them, but the Gunmaster one will be extremely tough - it's way out of proportion to all of the other medals, IMO. Best to focus on games with a low number of players on a single map so you can learn it well and grind it out, I guess.
If you want to team up for the SQDM medal, I'm more than happy to play that for a while to try to get those 31 wins!

Yep, I love doing that.. It's rare you get a match like that, but when you do it feels good.. I love playing it like that. You do however get the odd game where people will play the objective. We definitely need to get some PH BF3 going.
I found a little thing last night, when using the Stinger to take down choppers.. Even if you're out of rockets, you can still lock on etc.. And I assume the pilots are getting the lock on beeping because I noticed them flaring out and pissing off into the distance. No idiots on my team were running Support so I couldn't restock, but still meant the birds stayed off now and then.

Despite the name you definitely don’t need to WIN (as in be first) Gun Master to get the ribbon – can’t remember if its be on the same team as the winner, or be in the top players, I think the former. Anyway it is relatively easy to achieve.Happy to help out on SQDM - just send me an invite, I owe you for the sneeky RPG/Heli tip!

Decided to dust off BF3 after a few months away from it, are the two expansion packs worth buying? The Armoured kill one and the other latest one?
PH95
Depends on what you like, Close Quarters is very COD, Armoured Kill is huge maps, lots of vehicles. In theory I should really like the latter but I find the combat not quite intense enough because they are so large, Rush may be different I've managed to forget to play it on the AK maps for a while, at the beginning people seemed more focussed on exploring than the objective.PH95

How about we set up an SQDM and Gunmaster for an evening in the next few weeks - regardless of winning/achievements, I think a Gunmaster game would be hilarious with a server full of PHers and I'm sure some PHers still need to unlock the LA85 with the SQDM wins.

Good news on both counts - a top 5 win in Gunmaster is achievable.

I'd be up for that and on the PS3 thread Sway wants some SQDM too, so we could be on for that this evening. How about we set up an SQDM and Gunmaster for an evening in the next few weeks - regardless of winning/achievements, I think a Gunmaster game would be hilarious with a server full of PHers and I'm sure some PHers still need to unlock the LA85 with the SQDM wins.

Got all of those except the Mortar (225/300) but am lacking on the melee (19/30), Gun Master (0/50 lol...spiteful thing), just realised I keep forgetting about Tank Superiority mode (4/50) and Domination (35/50) and both Mcom ones, but I'm close on both. Ive got 39/45 assignments bu again just a couple of kills away on the remaining 6.- Mortar (55/300 kills so far)

The melee one isn't too difficult, I played big ticket conquest games on Metro and lurked in corners beside doorways on the main thoroughfares (side entrance to station, doors on second floors of buildings at A, between trains at C end of station in front of enemy spawn) and just waited for the odd person to run past. I would help out on TDM but I'm a PC kinda guy Im afraid
Ensure you have squad sprint equipped and you should be able to rack up a knife kill every few minutes.
