Go to bed. When you wake up it'll be there.

Think of it as being like Christmas Eve only with crossbows.

Anyone else tink they've messed about with the dynamics of the weapons that none of them work anything like the real thing anymore? The guy they hired to make the wepaons seem real must be regretting taking his job.

I still lovve the way the machine pistols can't hit a barn door, the sub machine guns are deadly accurate at short range and LMGs can't hit anything under 25m from the hip or shoulder. In fact the LMG hits everything out to 25m with a devatating amount of power until its got off a few rounds and then, and only then, the recoil takes over, yes they are bloody heavy to carry, but if they weren't they would be the choice of most soldiers instead of an assault rifle. An SMG might hit with the first shot but then the short barrel makes it jump all over the place, they can clear a building, but then everything is under 5 metres in a building, so I would hope you'd hit something. The only one they got about right are the machine pistols.

You have to balance reality with "playability" though - if attack helis, mortars or any number of other aspects were accurate to reality, the game would very soon become unplayable.

are the new maps any good?
First impression is that they're great for infantry, but lousy for vehicles and aircraft. Trying to drive a tank around one of them in particular is an nightmare.

There's a fantastic amount of 3D cover available for troops though - one of the buildings that houses an MCOM in the rush game allows you to get at least 3 storeys up and still overlook the MCOM - a sniper's paradise.

I do, I tend to go almost exclusively anti-air these days as engineer, just because shooting things down makes me laugh smile
Stingers are so good these days, it's easy kills.
Same here - and cunning placement of mines.
Thing is that you can end up almost totally supressing the enemy helicopter threat by skilful use of the Stinger/Igla and really help the team, but you don't actually get that many points as often the crew will have bailed. Nevertheless it's a team game so I'm happy enough to do it.

I've come back to BF3 after about six weeks off (was working in Gibraltar) and I've got so rusty on the actual 1 vs 1 gun combat - can't hit a thing; if I see an enemy player I just run and hide now frown

I had a great game on the canal map (can never mind the right name) but I shoot down 6 little birds with the main tank gun. Oh I was pissing myself. The pilot just kept coming in and sitting so low and still

Oh yes. And on Kharg Island I would never sneak back to the shore, and plant mines on the "transport ships" so that when the tanks/humvees spawn and drive off........................

One of my favourite things to do is to find a random tank in the battlefield, and put a mine on each side wait for an enemy to jump in.. b00m!

On Gulf of Oman conquest, there is a jeep at each of the four flags. I may have placed a mine in front of each of them and sat sniggering as the kills rolled in throughout the game.

hehe

I also love attacking tanks with just mines.. Running around them when the driver is trying to shoot me. They never think to jump out and gun me down, just try and run you over/get the gun on you.

If a driver jumped out and tried to gun me down whilst I was mining/C4ing/repair torching his tank, I would jump into it, back up and then blast him with the cannon! wink

Dirty, dirty biggrin. The track down to the RU (top) spawn on Alboraz Mountains is a good spot as well, several blind crests.
I sometimes even get a twinge of guilt about it.

Hmm, they could reintorduce one note of reality to jets, Their turn circle. They defy the laws of physics in their spectacular ability to turn on the spot in some pilots hands. I've been strafed twice inumerable times by some hot shot pilot while I've been in a heli. Teh heli didn't spin on teh spot in the time that the pilot managed to fly past, turn and fly back again. Or I've been chased down valleys by jets. Any semblance to the relative speeds of jets to heli and maneuvrability would be nice.

Decided to get Armoured Kill and it's currently downloading. Any particular maps to check out or big adjustments to make in play style?
