I do like the 1-hit kill (rather than disable) on choppers with RPGs. Got my first one the other night on Gulf of Oman, a fully loaded huey hovering over the Hotel flag, pinning everyone down with the 2 miniguns- I was hid prone in the undergrowth right next to it, so I pulled out the RPG, one shot straight into the side-window- points... points... points... points... points! hehe

I'll gloss over the subsequent 20 or so rockets fired at low flying helos attempting to repeat my achievement... whistle

Have they made the Venom virtually indestructible? I took it up as high as I could the other day, then attempted a barrel roll. It stopped rolling when I was upside down then refused to upright itself so it promptly plummeted to the ground, landed on its roof, rolled over and then I throttled up and took off again with no damage

I saw a video where they showed that certain parts of the helicopters (inc rotors/landing skids etc) have zero damage registration so you can pretty much drop them out of the sky onto these components damage free.

A full roll on it's roof is impressive though! Good build quality. hehe

I'm not sure if it's been posted already, but THIS is well worth a look at to get an idea of how the changes, and attachments, affect the guns. Green represents the first shot, red/orange represents the rest under recoil.

I don't think they've changed it nearly as much as they did with the first weapon nerf in December, which practically ruined LMG's. I can't fathom why people aren't able to hit anything post patch, unless they're running around using full auto all the time. confused

I'm guessing you play on the PS3?

I agree the lack of recoil on some guns pre patch on the PS3 was ridiculous - the FAMAS and vehicle mounted weapons had practically no recoil at all - they were like aiming a hose, but they've taken it too far IMO. The whole point of an assault rifle is that it's accurate over 100 yds or so. I don't expect to be able to unload a full magazine on target, but a burst of 3-5 rounds fired by a trained soldier should all hit a man-sized target at that range.

Interesting, looks like the G3A3 and the LG85 are the guns to go for now.

I'm in the same boat, can't seem to hit a barn door post-patch so as a consequence I've hardly played it since. I'm not sure if it's just recoil either, hit detection and lag both seem to be far worse since the patch for me. Not sure if I can be bothered to relearn the whole shooting mechanic this late into the game at this point. Dare I say it but I was starting to get a little bored of BF3 anyway and this just seems to be the icing on the cake. When is the next hot FPS game due out?

yes I think they upped the G3's power slightly too - so it's a fairly handy tool.

It's worth noting that the patch changed the silencer dynamics as well, rather than making them convey less damage per shot, instead they now have increased bullet drop with the same damage as normal rounds - which is useful for reducing recoil if it's becoming a problem.

I used the G3A3 a fair bit before the patch, but I can't say I've noticed much difference since. I remember reading that they were going to increase the damage for it at all ranges, but I've not noticed it yet. Still one of my favourite weapons though! It's range and accurancy (on single shot) make it great at taking out scout helicopter pilots/passengers.

Interestingly I've had a lot of kill distance 'marksman' bonuses with the G3A3 using the heavy barrel - far more than with the M39 EMR (pretty much the only 'sniper' rifle I use with any regularity).

On XBOX. Always tried to be quite disciplined with burst fire, but I just seem to be getting slaughtered. To be fair I've not played much recently, so maybe I'm jus rusty.

Got killed a LOT today with LMGs, particularly the M60. Maybe I just need to get back into it.

They've definitely changed the M27, it has noticeably more recoil post-patch, but putting a foregrip + flash suppressor (which actually does stuff these days!) seems to calm it down a bit.

Heavy barrel makes more difference than I thought... I've always avoided it in favour of the other attachments.

I do find it giid with flash suppressor so people can't figure out where you are, but maybe better accuracy would be more useful.

if this represents pre-patch then...

now I can see why me m27IAR + suppressor + foregrip has been ruined - lovely tight grouping and now....

if it is post patch then it must be the hit registering and lag that is causing me so many issues....either that or I am just st

Those are all post patch groupings. Afaik, the chart was compiled to detail the new add-on differences, previously some (i.e: the heavy barrel) didn't actually do anything - so dice in their infinite wisdom decided everyone should relearn their favourite loadouts.

Surprised to see this much love for the M27 though, I always found it one of the weaker guns in the support class (although yet to try it since the patch)!
