That's a very good question and one that I'm glad you asked.

Moving on, the video even included a jet plane flying way below:

rofl Just wondering in case I ever get the time to try this myself. Note to Self: Best don't put an "If found, please return to PBF" sticker on it just in case it brains someone with a temper! smile

True! I did have such a sticker, so I took that risk in the hope that if I didn't locate it someone else would.

It did actually land in someone's back garden, right next to the garden bench! That would have been a brown trouser moment!

Great stuff. I wonder if a gyroscope on a freely-rotating box would stabilise the picture? Of course that'll increase weight a bit.

Would love to have a go but can't do it around my way with with STN/LTN flight paths very nearby!

I was thinking a compass and a fan controlled by a feedback loop :-)

Yes it'd be fairly easy to code up a small reaction control system based on a good compass smile

Testing on the ground will be easy enough. Wonder how well it would work at 100,000 feet and 1% atmosphere ...

That's why I reckon a gyroscope would be better, not that I have any experience in this area smile

Brilliant!
Love these weather balloon photographs.
My favourite was when someone sent teddy bear astronauts up on a weather balloon and recovered them.
British teddy bears!

Yeah, I thought it was mine too!!!

They seemed to need a team of experts. I just had me cool, plus Mrs Dave doing the sewing and some friends to help on the day.

Saw that. Great! I have a sponsor for my next balloon, and they have a bear as a company mascot, so asked about sending him up into space. I was at the Smithsonian air&space museum a few weeks ago and bought one of these to possibly send up instead smile
