Airborne ejector seat testing isn't unusual - without a snopes-type ref like that there's no reason to think it's a 'shop.
Airborne ejector seat testing is unusual. I'm not aware of any fast jet in Western service that has done ejction testing in flight - on the ground yes (its epically cool to be sat watching it, hearing the whoosh of the test sled, followed by a pretty nig bang as the seat and canopy do their bits). Obviously the Russians are a bit different to us, but I don't think they're that different. Despite all the good stories, ejections are still pretty dangerous.

They are two different aircraft. Fantastic, but different nonetheless.

Always makes me laugh when I see cam cream like that. Takes 20 minutes to apply, 5 minutes to drip and smear into a stty mess after you start sweating.
