IforB said: There's also the point that there will be a testing program for both static ground tests (for zero zero seats) and airborne ones. So it's very unlikely that they didn't perform an airborne one. it's not a test, it's from a film havoc said: The rear stabilisers are probably at that angle to give the plane a little bit of negative g - i.e. to put the plane in an arc so that there's quicker separation between plane and seat. ah right, and the pic just caught it at the perfect point it looked ALMOST identical to the ground shot, if you overlay the two pics in photoshop with 50% transparency you'll see the ejecting bloke and all his equipment are identical oh, except the video clip from the straight-to-video film shows it in level flight http://gizmodo.com/5330468/mystery-of-the-crazy-su...

Why didn't you post that vid up before?
Airborne ejector seat testing isn't unusual - without a snopes-type ref like that there's no reason to think it's a 'shop.

I'm not aware of any fast jet in Western service that has done ejction testing in flight - on the ground yes (its epically cool to be sat watching it, hearing the whoosh of the test sled, followed by a pretty nig bang as the seat and canopy do their bits). Obviously the Russians are a bit different to us, but I don't think they're that different. Despite all the good stories, ejections are still pretty dangerous.

Vieste said: Our Dog LOVES doing that. Whenever the OH Horse has a Lather on he goes mental to lick the saliva...... Fortunately the horse is used to it / tolerates. Stupid dog went up to another horse to do the same and the thing went a trifle mental !
