Two videos from me. Filmed in June at the US East Coast Sevens Track Days annual event. There was something like 10 cameras mounted on 9 cars in varying positions over the course of the couple of days.

Cameras were:
- GoPro HD2 (a few)
- MD80 spy cam
- Drift HD
- Sony handicam
- iPhone
- Crocolis HD
Footage was recorded in 1080Hd (you will see the rolling shutter at two points), 960 48fps and 720 60fps and whatever crappy quality the MD80 records at. It was the sacrifical camera hung under the front wishbone.
For sound there were multiple external microphones (ATR 3350 and AT898), internal mic on the Crocolis and for the Drift HD user error forced music to be dubbed over.
Overlays done with RaceRender and edited on Sony Vegas.

The Black Mountain Pass - A4069
Filmed in 720p on the GoPro with a microphone clipped to the rear number plate pointing towards the exhaust outlet
Hmm.. didn't work on mine. Does anyone think the sound from the Hama (first section of video) sounds more like a bad connection/interference rather than wind noise?Filmed in 720p on the GoPro with a microphone clipped to the rear number plate pointing towards the exhaust outlet

If I can't get the Hama working then i'll have to start looking at how I can get the rode mic to pick up sound from near the exhaust without mounting it externally... gonna be tricky!

The Hama was a fail. It should be better than that. I don't think a dead cat wind sock is going to make that mic work much better. I agree it sounds like its levels were all wrong rather than just all wind noise. MrChips said:

Another idea - is your boot area sound proof? I have had success in installing mics inside the boot - out of the wind and rain yet still able to pick up decent sound. Levels may be too low but you should be able to fix that post production. The other option is run the mic forward into the engine bay. A Rode is a large beast but there may be room to hide one there on a dry day? Sound is a lot more intake than exhaust but still all good.
A bit of cycling on Haldon Hill....

very funny i take you are just a novice? no offence if you are not.Snorkelling with a Hero2 and GoPro's own flat lens kit. No filter, and I haven't corrected the colours (although the Vegas red midtones colour correction does look OK).
